🔼 Going For the Kill. On Monday, the American Athletic Conference released its weekly volleyball awards, with newcomer Martina Franco representing UTSA as the league's Freshman of the Week.

Franco was stellar, recording two double-doubles on the week and a whopping 13 service aces. She started with 10 kills against Texas State before posting six in a three-set victory over Holy Cross. Twelve terminations followed against Abilene Christian and 17 from the final match with UIW.

In addition to Franco, junior Mia Soerensen was recognized by the league office, making the honor roll. She was named to the All-Tournament team at the UTSA Invitational to cap off a week that saw her record double-digit kills across four matches.

🔼 Soccer’s One-Two Punch.  For the second time this season, UTSA soccer had a pair of players notch spots on the American Athletic Conference weekly honors, as officials from the league office announced Monday that Addy Johnson was named AAC Freshman of the Week, while Sasjah Dade earned honorable mention for efforts in helping UTSA to its fifth win via a 3-0 victory at Central Arkansas.

Receiving her first AAC Freshman of the Week award, Johnson stitched up a two-goal performance in the big road win at Central Arkansas, scoring her first career goal (37’) and then her second just 75 seconds later (38'), placing both her shots for the day against the Bears on goal.

Earning AAC weekly Honorable Mention, Dade anchored a Roadrunners defense that notched its fourth shutout of the year, holding the Bears to just two shots on goal out of nine total attempts.
