Brew-1-0 1/10: Squad Goals

Roadrunners add five D-I transfers to the soccer team this spring, including a pair from the reigning AAC champs.

🤙 The Official Newsletter For UTSA Athletics

Good morning. On Monday, sixth-year UTSA soccer head coach Derek Pittman announced the Roadrunners will enter the 2024 spring practices with five new transfers joining the squad. All five join UTSA from other D-I programs, including a pair from reigning AAC Champion Memphis.

Getting started at UTSA this spring are Izzy Lane, Rylee Low, Lulie MacFarlane, Zoё May, and Addi O’Kelley.

“We needed to address a few key positions on our roster as we prepare for the 2024 season, and our staff did a fantastic job doing exactly that,” said Pittman. “Izzy and Lulie add dynamic personalities and goal-scoring mentalities to our attacking group, while Zoë, Addi, and Rylee will bring experience and toughness to our back line and midfield. Each of these young ladies is a tremendous competitor with high character attributes that will fit in exceptionally well in our championship culture.”

🤔 UTSA TRIVIA

Upward Trajectory. With UTSA soccer news taking center stage, today’s trivia turns to ‘Runners history and a test of your relatively short-term memory.

In November of 2023, the Samoa Women’s National Team called up a member of the 2023 soccer team for training and competition at the 2023 Pacific Games in the Solomon Islands.

Today’s question—what was the name of this talented ‘Runner?

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Sasjah Dade

A 2023 American Athletic Conference Preseason Watch List honoree and member of the 2022 All-Conference USA third team, Dade was a crucial defender for this year’s UTSA team that set the program record for goals-against-average (0.72), garnered seven shutouts and produced five more games with only a single goal allowed. In addition to her defensive prowess, Dade scored two game-winning goals and distributed an assist in 2023. She was also a core defender on the 2022 UTSA Conference USA Championship squad while earning the most points by a defender – 13 points off five goals, including three game-winners and three assists.

“This is a tremendous honor and achievement for Sasjah,” sixth-year head Coach Pittman said at the time. “I have watched her grow and develop as a player for the last four years, so it is a proud moment for our program to know all of her hard work has paid off.”

🤙🏼 Have a great Wednesday, y’all!
