🤙 The Official Newsletter For UTSA Athletics
Good morning. The UTSA baseball team is set to host Charlotte in a three-game American Athletic Conference series today through Sunday. The series opens with a 6 PM CST Friday start, Saturday’s first pitch is at 2 PM, and it concludes on Sunday at 12 PM (please note the time change from 1 PM).
UTSA is on a six-game winning streak following a 7-4 win over crosstown rival UIW at the Cardinals’ home park of Sullivan Field on Tuesday. The Roadrunners have also won four total weekend series this season, including their first two AAC series against then-No. 10 East Carolina and Tulane.

🔼 Squad Goals. After a Tuesday win over Lamar, the UTSA softball team is headed to Greenville, North Carolina, for a three-game American Athletic Conference series. The squads will first meet today at 4 PM CST before a 3 PM contest on Saturday and an 11 AM finale on Sunday.
The Roadrunners (12-26, 3-9 The American) are fresh off a midweek win against the Cardinals, with sophomore Reagan Smith tossing a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits and fanning five in the 3-0 win.
🔼 New Commish. Tim Pernetti has been named the second commissioner of the American Athletic Conference. His tenure will begin in June. He succeeds Mike Aresco, who has served as commissioner of the AAC since the reconstitution of the conference in 2013.
Pernetti is a respected leader who brings over three decades of sports, business, and media leadership to the conference. He served as president of IMG Academy, executive vice president of the global sports and entertainment company Endeavor, president of IMG College, and executive vice president of content of CBS College Sports.
🔼 Camp Taylor FTW. The UTSA football program will host six camps this summer at the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence on Main Campus. Please visit UTSAfootballcamps.com for more information and to register.
UTSA Football Camps are coached by Jeff Traylor and the UTSA coaching staff. Summer prospect camps are for 9th through 12th grades (Fall of 2024), JUCO prospects and all those in the transfer portal. All camps are non-contact, specializing in technique and fundamentals.
🔼 ‘Running With Good Vibes. A shared passion for uniting with and giving back to the San Antonio community has created a unique partnership between UTSA Athletics and the Kahlig Auto Group.
“When you have a really successful automobile business or any successful business in a community, part of your success should be giving back and participating in the growth of the community,” said Billy Vaughn, Vice President of the Kahlig Auto Group and a first-generation college graduate. “I don’t take that lightly. I want everybody to know that we recognize the good work that UTSA is doing.”
