Roadrunners send four to the moon in victory over Houston

Good morning. A quartet of home runs lifted the UTSA baseball team to an 8-7 win over the Big 12’s Houston Cougars at Schroeder Park on Tuesday afternoon. UTSA improves to a 4-5 record, while Houston drops to a 6-2 record.
Senior Caleb Hill led the team with a 3-for-4 game, picking up two home runs, four RBI and three runs. Two more Roadrunners hit home runs, including junior Matt King and senior Alexander Olivo (first at UTSA).
The Roadrunners return home to host Grand Canyon this Friday-Sunday, March 1-3. The series will open on Friday at 6 PM CST before playing at 2 PM CST on Saturday and 1 PM CST on Sunday.

🔼 Staying the Course. The final round of the Dorado Beach Collegiate has been canceled due to rain, leaving the UTSA men’s golf team in a tie for fourth place in the 17-team field.
Junior Jack Wehman ended up with a share of fifth place to help guide the Roadrunners to their second straight top-five showing. He fired a 9-under-par 135 on the 7,112-yard TPC Dorado Beach Sugarcane Course, good for the second-best 36-hole total in program history. Wehman carded a 68 on Monday for his third straight and sixth overall par-or-better round of the season. For the week, he had seven birdies and two eagles and played the par fives at 8-under, tops in the field of 107 golfers.
All five players in the lineup for UTSA finished the event with a red number on the scoreboard.
The Roadrunners will return to action on March 9-11 at The Hayt in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
🔼 It’s All Greek to Us. The UTSA men’s basketball team plays host to Tulsa tonight at the Convo. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. The Roadrunners, who have only two home games remaining in the 2023-24 season, are coming off a 64-62 win at North Texas on Saturday night.
Wednesday’s game marks Greek Night at the Convo and the highest-attending Greek organization receives orange UTSA hats for their entire organization and an on-court photo with the team after the game.

🔼 Linking Up FTW. Led by a pair of 1-under-par 71s from Maria Bastarrica and Camryn Carreon on Tuesday, the UTSA women’s golf team wrapped up the Chevron Collegiate at 3-under-par, good for a tie for 10th place in the team standings.
The Roadrunners will resume the spring season on March 4-5 when they travel to Jacksonville, Florida, for the UNF Collegiate.
🔼 Ballin’ in Memphis. The UTSA women's basketball team will visit Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday, with a 7 PM CST American Athletic Conference matchup on the docket against the Tigers inside Elma Roane Fieldhouse. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+, with Greg Gaston providing play-by-play alongside Trey Draper.
The Roadrunners (14-12, 8-6 The American) split across last week, first falling to Temple, 56-48, before besting Florida Atlantic, 76-60 in what represented UTSA's Senior Day.
UTSA leads The American in multiple statistics, including rebounds per game, where a 46.7 average ranks sixth nationally. The 'Runners also sit fifth in offensive rebounds per game with 16.5 and are eighth in rebound margin, recording 10.3 more boards than their opponent.
🔼 Softball Split. The UTSA softball team wrapped up competition at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sunday, in a day that began with a 6-5 victory over St. Thomas (Minn.) and concluded with a 5-1 extra-innings defeat at the hands of No. 17 Texas A&M inside Davis Diamond.
The Roadrunners (4-12, 0-0 The American) battled all day as they topped the Tommies (1-14, 0-0 The Summit) and took the nationally recognized Aggies (14-1, 0-0 SEC) to extra innings.
UTSA will now turn its attention toward the Boerner Invitational, with games against UIW, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, UT Arlington, and Grambling State on the docket from March 1-3 in Arlington, Texas.

Answer: Hunter Bott logged a team-best six birdies en route to his 17th career sub-70 round on Sunday.
The senior from Montgomery, Texas, started the day by circling his number on four of his first five holes, as he birdied Nos. 9-10 before posting a par on the 11th followed by back-to-back birdies on the 542-yard, par-5 12th and 230-yard, par-13th holes. The all-conference performer also had birdies on the 410-yard, par-4 17th and the 420-yard, par-4 third while breaking 70 for the seventh time this season.
