📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Don’t Call it a Comeback. A game-high 19 points for freshman Aysia Proctor nearly propelled the UTSA women's basketball team to victory on Thursday night in the Convocation Center, as they narrowly fell to Houston, 66-64 after trailing by as much as 22 in the second quarter.

The Roadrunners (5-4, 0-0 AAC) couldn't overcome the Cougars (8-1, 0-0 Big 12) in a down-to-the-wire contest that saw UTSA shoot 41.9% from the field to Houston's 36.1%. The 'Runners also hauled in 14 more rebounds than their opponents as freshman Idara Udo and senior Kyra White tied for the game-lead with eight. Likewise, classmate Elyssa Coleman was solid on the glass, collecting seven rebounds.

UTSA will now head to the Pacific Northwest to wrap up nonconference play with a Sunday game at 1 PM CST against Oregon at Matthew Knight Arena. The road trip will conclude on Tuesday, as the 'Runners meet Seattle at 2 p.m. C.T. inside the Redhawk Center.

🔼 Scope Out the Competition. The American Athletic Conference on Wednesday unveiled the scheduling model for conference games that will be in place for the 2024 season.

UTSA will host four AAC games in 2024, welcoming Florida Atlantic, Memphis, North Texas, and Temple to the Alamodome.

The Roadrunners will hit the road for league games versus Army, East Carolina, Rice, and Tulsa.

The 2024 season will be The American's second with 14 football-playing institutions as Army West Point joins the conference. The schedule format calls for each team to play eight conference games, with four home games and four road contests for each team.  The scheduling model was approved by The American's athletic directors this week.

The American will continue with a single-division format in 2024. The top two teams in the final regular-season standings will qualify for the American Athletic Conference Championship Game.

The full 2024 conference schedule will be announced in February.

🔼 Luring the Locals. UTSA Athletics and Playfly Sports’ UTSA Sports Properties have announced that Little Woodrow’s Braun will host the official UTSA Viewing Party for the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

UTSA fans who cannot make the trip to Frisco are invited out to Little Woodrow’s Braun (9840 W Loop 1604 N) to cheer on the Roadrunners in their fourth straight and fifth overall bowl appearance. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 19, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.

There will be Bud Light drink specials and free UTSA/Little Woodrow’s koozies available for those in attendance. UTSA Alumni and the Roadrunner Athletic Fund will be out with more prizes and giveaways.

The Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl will feature the Roadrunners (8-4) against the Marshall Thundering Herd (6-6) for a national television broadcast on ESPN.

🔼 A Tale of Two Halves. The second half went against the UTSA men’s basketball team (5-5) on Wednesday night at the Jack Stephens Center, as Little Rock’s (5-6) defensive pressure put the clamps on the Roadrunners’ top scorer. Little Rock slipped past UTSA’s one-point halftime lead and outscored the Roadrunners in the second half to pull away to the 93-84 Trojans win – snapping UTSA’s three-game win streak in the process.

The Roadrunners head northwest on Saturday to face Oregon State for the fourth time in the last five seasons and then return home to the Convo on Dec. 21 to face Army West Point.
