🔼 Youri Up. Below is an excerpt of a Q&A with UTSA tennis player Ekua Youri. Go here for the full interview.

Q: Why did you choose UTSA?

Ekua Youri: "I chose UTSA mainly because of how our coach [Ki Kroll] spoke about the environment, and it just felt like such an inspiring place to be in."

Q: What do you like most about being a student-athlete at UTSA?

Ekua Youri: "Being a student-athlete comes with a lot of upside, such a getting full support in juggling your academics with your sport, getting nutritious meals and being able to mingle and socialize with other fellow athletes who we're surrounded by."

🔼 The Long Game. Meet Dahlia Barnes '25, a biology master's student, independent researcher, and long jumper for UTSA's track and field team.

Dahlia began her academic journey at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). Having earned her B.S. in biological sciences from the university in 2023, she set her sights on pursuing a graduate degree.

Since she was a kid, Dahlia knew that she wanted to become a doctor. Her conviction only grew stronger as she advanced, having a natural affinity and immense interest in the science classes her high school offered. Dahlia wanted to do research and expand her knowledge in the vast field of biology, which influenced her decision to choose the Biology Master's Program at UTSA.

The Roadrunners improved their record to 15-6 on the season, including a perfect 8-0 mark at home, with their eighth victory over the Aggies (5-12) in 10 all-time meetings. UTSA also surpassed its win total from last year with today’s decision, marking the program’s most victories since a 16-8 campaign in 2009.

🔼 Morgan’s Run. Morgan Ellison is in the top 10 individuals, and the UTSA women’s golf team has sole possession of eighth place after the first round of the Chattanooga Classic, which teed off on Sunday at Council Fire Golf Course (par 71/5,955 yards). The second round is set for this morning, and the Roadrunners will tee off starting at 9:30 a.m. CT.

Ellison has a share of ninth place after carding a 1-over-par 72. The junior from Peachtree City, Georgia, posted 13 pars and birdies on the 146-yard, par-3 eighth and 361-yard, par-4 12th holes. She sits just two shots out of a tie for third place and is five off the pace set by North Florida’s One Kashima (67).

Bott grabbed a share of seventh place and the Roadrunners ended up in a deadlock with 46th-ranked Louisville in fifth place to notch their fourth top-five team showing of the campaign.

🔼 Softball Setback. Despite a stellar performance at the plate by senior Erykah Guerrero, the UTSA softball team suffered a 4-3 setback at the hands of East Carolina in an American Athletic Conference series finale on Sunday.

The Roadrunners (12-29, 3-12 The American) fell to the Pirates (29-11, 6-9 The American). Senior Jamie Gilbert (5-11) was pegged with the loss despite rendering ECU hitless through the first four frames.
