🔼 66 Student-Athletes on the Run. The UTSA Department of Intercollegiate Athletics celebrated 66 spring and summer student-athlete graduates in a ceremony on Thursday evening on Main Campus.
"We are proud of our student-athlete graduates and are excited for their futures," UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos said. "Graduation marks the culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication by our student-athletes. To balance the demands of participating in an NCAA Division I sport and managing a full academic schedule is a challenging task.”
⇢ A lot of the excitement was captured right on X/Twitter. 🎓
🔼 Full Signal Ahead. As KENS 5 News Vinnie Vinzetta writes, “Football is the king of all college sports, and at most universities around the country, it effectively functions as its own standalone entity. That's the case at UTSA, too, but Roadrunner Athletics is taking steps this spring to ensure its national brand grows with every sport.” Vinzetta is referring to the $5 million that was financed for broadcast television streaming as UTSA Athletics looks to grow its footprint beyond San Antonio and beyond Texas.
"(Director of Athletics) Dr. Lisa Campos and (University President) Dr. Taylor Eighmy really view athletics as the front porch of the university," said Sean Cartell, senior associate athletics director. "That will be roughly 90 to 100 broadcasts per year. Everything will be housed in the RACE facility, the hub for UTSA Athletics."
