'Runners Baseball got their sixth AAC series win with a 5-3 victory over South Florida

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. The UTSA baseball team secured its sixth American Athletic Conference series win with a 5-3 victory over South Florida on Sunday morning at Roadrunner Field in San Antonio.

Mason Lytle and Matt King led the team with two-hit games. Ruger Riojas (9-3) secured his ninth win of the season, allowing just one run and striking out four batters in 3.2 innings pitched. UTSA improved to a 29-21 overall record (15-9 in AAC play) while South Florida fell to a 24-27 overall record (10-14 in conference action).

🔼 Botta Do This Thing. UTSA senior Hunter Bott is set to make his second career NCAA postseason appearance and his first as an individual this week at the Austin Regional, which will be hosted by Texas today through Wednesday (May 13-15) at UT Golf Club (par 71/7,399 yards).

Bott is the No. 3 seed among 10 individuals and 13 teams chosen for the Austin Regional. The field will play 18 holes each day. Bott is set to tee off at 9:53 a.m. this morning.

🔼 A Revered ‘Runner. Among the soon-to-be graduates is Maren Wilms, who will be awarded her Master of Arts in Economics. Her remarkable journey at the Carlos Alvarez College of Business exemplifies academic excellence and athletic prowess.

Traveling from Melsbach, Germany, Maren Wilms embarked on her UTSA journey in 2019 after obtaining a track scholarship. Obtaining a solid foundation in psychology and marketing, she completed her undergraduate degree at UTSA with a perfect 4.0 GPA. As a dedicated member and captain of the UTSA track team, Wilms also found her second family among her teammates. Her commitment culminated in a proud moment in the summer of 2022 when she clinched second place in the heptathlon at a conference meet.
