🔼 Strokes of Genius. Daniela Abonce captured the American Athletic Conference Individual Championship to help lead the UTSA women’s golf team to a fifth-place finish on Wednesday at Southern Hills Plantation Club (par 72/6,289 yards).

👀 Head to X to see the team in action.

Abonce shot a 9-under-par 207 to claim the Roadrunners’ sixth individual league crown, winning the 54-hole event by one shot ahead of Tulsa’s Lovisa Gunnar. She fired a 3-under 69 on Wednesday to move out of a deadlock with South Florida’s Melanie Green and past SMU’s Ellie Szeryk and Gunnar to the top of the leaderboard for her first career collegiate victory.

🔼 Fiesta Time. The UTSA baseball team will host the UAB Blazers in a three-game series in American Athletic Conference play this weekend for Fiesta Weekend at Roadrunner Field. The series opens tonight at 6:00 PM CST. Game two on Saturday is set for 2 PM, and the series concludes at 12 PM on Sunday.

UTSA has won all four of its conference series thus far, picking up series wins against then-No. 10 and conference favorite East Carolina, 2023 AAC Tournament champion Tulane, 2023 Conference USA Tournament champion Charlotte, and Memphis. The team is first in the league standings with a 9-3 AAC record.

🔼 A Little Birdie Told Us. UTSA will travel to Belleair, Florida, to compete in the American Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Championship, to be held today through Sunday, April 19-21, at Pelican Golf Club (par 70/6,881 yards).

The Roadrunners’ lineup includes Hunter Bott, Jack Wehman, David Harrison, Brock Blais, Walker Franklin, and alternate Bryson Thurston for their first appearance in The American Championship. 🔼 A Tall Order. UTSA women's basketball coach Karen Aston has officially announced the signing of Berlin, Germany native Emilia Dannebauer to the squad. A 6'4" forward/center, Dannebauer has spent time on the junior German national team and has climbed the ladder from the Female Youth Basketball Bundesliga (WNBL) into the second tier of the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga (2. DBBL), where she starred for the Chemcats Chemnitz.

“Her game is very different from anyone we have, which makes her a perfect fit for the puzzle and chemistry of our team,” said Aston. “She is a shot blocker and can stretch the floor also, which is unique at her size.”

🔼 Too Late For Tulane. The UTSA women’s tennis team battled with eighth-seeded Tulane and prevailed with a 4-2 victory in the second round of the American Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday morning.

UTSA improved to a 17-6 overall record, while Tulane ends its season with an 11-9 record. The Roadrunners have extended their match-winning streak to seven matches in a row.

🔼 Comeback Fell Just Short. The No. 7-seeded UTSA men’s tennis team (10-10) saw its inaugural American Athletic Conference Championships journey cut short on Thursday as the Roadrunners rallied from an early deficit against 10th-seeded Tulane (8-14). Although the Roadrunners had a chance to complete the comeback, Thursday’s first-round match ended in a 4-2 setback to the Green Wave.
