UTSA women's hoops takes down Northern Colorado 80-62 for program's first postseason victory

🤙 The Official Newsletter For UTSA Athletics

Good morning. Senior Jordyn Jenkins recorded a game-high 27 points, and classmate Kyra White was one assist shy of a double-double as UTSA defeated Northern Colorado 80-62 on Thursday to advance into the Second Round of the 2024 Postseason WNIT. The win was the program's first in the postseason.

UTSA will now advance into the second round, where they'll meet a Wyoming squad that's gone 16-14. The 'Runners will meet the Cowgirls at Arena-Auditorium in Laramie, Wyoming, on Sunday at 2 PM CST.

🔼 They’ll Walk the Plank. The UTSA baseball team will host preseason conference favorite and No. 10 East Carolina for a three-game series to open American Athletic Conference play on Friday through Sunday. The Roadrunners-Pirates series opens with a 6 PM CST Friday start, while Saturday’s first pitch is at 2 PM, and the series concludes on Sunday at 1 PM. All three games can be viewed on ESPN+.

🔼 San Antoni-Oh-Yeah. UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor and several members of the Roadrunners’ football program were recognized by the City of San Antonio on Thursday afternoon at the Municipal Plaza Building. Mayor Ron Nirenberg read a proclamation, and District 4 Councilwoman Adriana Rocha Garcia delivered congratulatory remarks to highlight the accomplishments of the 2023 senior class.

Today’s ceremony was attended by seniors who, over the past four years, helped the Roadrunners win 39 games, capture back-to-back conference championships — the first two in program history — and play in four straight bowl games, including the school’s first bowl win, a 35-17 victory over Marshall last December in the Frisco Bowl.

🔼 Let’s Bump This Post. On Thursday, head UTSA volleyball coach Carol Price-Torok announced the hiring of Emily DeWalt. DeWalt will join the program as the squad's newest assistant coach following a stint at UT Arlington and a highly decorated playing career at Texas State.

🔼 And Then the Clouds Parted. After Mother Nature found a variety of ways to bring challenges to last week’s competitions, UTSA men’s tennis (7-8) is back on the court this week and will look to get back in the win column on Friday, March 22, with Dartmouth (7-9) coming to town for their first-ever meeting at the UTSA Tennis Center.

🔼 Toto, We’re Not in…Oh, Never Mind. The UTSA softball team is headed to Wichita, Kansas, for a three-game American Athletic Conference series against Wichita State inside Wilkins Stadium. The ‘Runners will first face the Shockers in a Friday doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m., followed by a Saturday finale at 4 p.m.
