🏐 Volleyball is officially back TODAY with the Quest for the Crown

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Heavy Lies the Crown. The UTSA volleyball team is set to open up the 2024 campaign at the Quest for the Crown hosted by Old Dominion. For the ‘Runners, competition will begin today at 12:30 PM CST, with a contest against William & Mary on the docket ahead of a 6 PM prime-time showdown against ODU. The squad will wrap things up on Saturday with a 9 a.m. first serve against Marist at the ODU Volleyball Center.

Coming off a 15-15 season, the Roadrunners will look to take the next step under third-year head coach Carol Price-Torok. The squad has made significant improvements over the past two years, with 15 wins in 2023 serving as a seven-win improvement and the most by the program since 2019.

🔼 T-Squared Tennis. UTSA men’s tennis senior Tiago Torres earned a spot among the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s (ITA) 2024 Preseason Rankings, appearing at No. 120 among NCAA Division I singles players headed into the fall.

Heading into the first fall season under newly hired UTSA coach Sasha Gozun, this is the first preseason ranking for Torres in singles. In fall 2023, he was ranked 44th among doubles pairs in tandem with now-graduated partner Alan Magadan.

🔼 Selma By Leaps and Bounds. Starting on Wednesday, incoming UTSA student-athlete Selma Ims began competing at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru, at Estadio Atlético de la Videna.

Representing her home country of Norway, Ims is set to compete in both the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter hurdles at the World Junior Championships. The semifinal is set for Friday at 3:35 p.m., and finals on Saturday at 4:35 p.m.

Ims won gold in the 100m and 400m hurdles at the 2023 Norwegian U20 Championships and repeated as the 2024 Norwegian U20 National Champion in both events – earning silver in the 100m hurdles.
