🔼 Marquee Matchup. ICYMI! The UTSA soccer program's August 18 home matchup with the crosstown UIW Cardinals is officially moving to San Antonio FC’s Toyota Field in a huge night for San Antonio soccer, Roadrunners and Cardinals fans alike.
In the second regular season game of the 2024 campaign for both programs, UTSA and UIW will square off for just the second-ever meeting between these programs in the regular season, set to kick off at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, at Toyota Field (5106 David Edwards Drive, San Antonio, TX 78233), home to United Soccer League (USL) professional soccer franchise San Antonio FC (SAFC).

🔼 Run It Back. UTSA running back Kevorian Barnes has been named to the Doak Walker Award candidate list. Barnes is one of 87 players named to the list for the annual award presented to the nation’s most outstanding college running back.
A redshirt junior, Barnes rushed for a team-high 715 yards and six touchdowns on 147 attempts and also caught 14 passes for 61 yards in 2023. He logged a trio of 100-yard rushing games, opening the year with 103 yards and a TD on 16 carries at Houston.

🔼 Dade’s Got it Made in the Shade. Get to know UTSA soccer student-athlete Sasjah Dade in this Q&A.
Q: Why did you choose UTSA?
Sasjah Dade: "Going through my recruiting process, the main factors that were important to my family and I was scholarship money, a family atmosphere, and a team that would be able to compete at a high level and force me to develop my game. After talking with [UTSA head coach] Derek [Pittman] and coming on my official visit, I realized it was a perfect fit.”
Q: What do you like most about being a student-athlete at UTSA?
Sasjah Dade: "There are many benefits to being a student-athlete, but the main benefit for me is how it is great preparation to take on the world after college…”

🔼 Bolstering the Birds Crew. UTSA Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos has announced the hiring of Jim Campbell as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
Campbell comes to San Antonio from the University of San Francisco, where he served as the Dons’ Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations for the past two years. He was responsible for the overall leadership and oversight of Compliance, Student Services and Academic Success, and he also served as the department’s liaison to the West Coast Conference for student-athlete support matters.
