Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. Final grade reports are in for the Spring 2024 semester and UTSA student-athletes registered another successful term in the classroom.

The Roadrunners recorded an average team GPA of 3.04 for the spring semester and now boast an average team GPA of 3.08. Of 349 student-athletes enrolled, 57.9% currently maintain a 3.0-or-greater GPA while 57.6% achieved at least a 3.0 GPA for the Spring 2024 semester, including 36 who logged a perfect 4.0 semester GPA.

🔼 New In Town. Roadrunner soccer head coach Derek Pittman announced three more additions to next year’s roster, with the signing of transfers Ava Jackson and Kameron Kloza, and freshman newcomer, Kiana Sparrow, to join UTSA this summer.

⚽️ Ava Jackson, a forward from British Columbia, spent a season with the 2023 SEC Champion Arkansas Razorbacks. In addition to her collegiate team, Jackson helped her club team to a 2023 FIFA Blue Stars Youth Cup Championship.

⚽️ Kameron Kloza, a defender and native of San Antonio, is the sister of four-year UTSA soccer star, Kendall Kloza. Kameron has played three seasons at Texas Tech and last year, earned the 2023-24 Female Comeback Athlete of the Year award.

⚽️ Kianna Sparrow, a forward from Colorado, is coming to UTSA fresh of a third-straight state playoff appearance. The 2024 Centennial League Co-Player of the Year led her high school team with seven goals last season and finished her career with two Team MVP and Offensive MVP awards.

🔼 The Grades Are In. Calling all ladies! UTSA Football is hosting Helmets and Heels, an event dedicated to women, on July 27th at the UTSA RACE Facility. Join the team and visit this link for more details on the exciting mid-summer activity.

🔼 Countdown To Kickoff. 71 days remain between Roadrunner football fans and the first kick of the 2024 season. UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor was chosen as Athlon’s top head coach in the AAC, beating out 13 other coaches in the conference. Through four seasons at the helm, Traylor has led his team to a 39-14 record and has captured a pair of conference titles.

🤙 ONE BIG THING

Signed, Sealed, and the Real Deal. Lake Jackson’s own Taylor Meier is the latest newcomer to fill a roster spot for UTSA softball. Meier will join the team for the 2025 season after spending the last two years at McLennan Community College where she earned NJCAA DI All-American honors. During the 2024 World Series, Meier was named both the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Tournament after hitting .471 at the plate and finished the week with a perfect fielding percentage.

Throughout the season, she hit .497 with 38 RBI, 49 stolen bases, and 58 runs, which pushed her to All-Region and All-NTJCAC honors. Meier broke numerous records in the process, including the single-season stolen base record.
