📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Big Plays, Big Win. The Roadrunners came out swinging in front of 33,403 at the Alamodome, piling up 525 yards and rolling past UTRGV 45-16 in the season opener. Owen McCown was surgical, hitting 22 of 27 passes for 275 yards and three touchdowns, including a 62-yard catch-and-run to DJ Allen Jr., who notched his first career 100-yard receiving game. Will Henderson III ripped off a 75-yard touchdown dash and A'Marion Peterson added a 53-yarder of his own. The defense joined the party too, as Ahamad Chapman jumped a route and took it 49 yards to the house for his first pick six as a Roadrunner.

Next up is the Battle for I-35 at Texas State on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 2:30 p.m. on The CW Network.

🔼 Born to Throw. Owen McCown's path to San Antonio was decades in the making. Long before he took a snap for UTSA, head coach Jeff Traylor was a young coach in Jacksonville, Texas, shaping McCown's father Josh and uncles Luke and Randy into quarterbacks; Owen and Josh are now the first father-son duo Traylor has coached. Since transferring in from Colorado, McCown has built one of the most productive careers in program history, throwing for 3,424 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2024 before completing 67 percent of his passes for 30 scores in 2025.

🔼 Tee Off. UTSA men’s golf teed off on a new season yesterday at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate and finished the opening round in second place. The Roadrunners shot 11 under par and trail the Day 1 leader, Elon, by one stroke. Bryce Womack and David Martinez led the Roadrunners at four-under par, good for a tie for sixth. The Roadrunners are back on the course today.

🔼 First Fall Sweep. UTSA volleyball rolled past Tarleton State in three sets Friday night at the Convocation Center, notching its first sweep of the season and climbing above .500 for the first time in 2026. The Roadrunners were sharp all evening, hitting a season-best .344 while holding the Texans to just .009. Sydney Bryant led the way in kills for the fourth straight match with 11, and Ledisi Kpea finished with six blocks.

UTSA stays home next weekend for the Roadrunner Classic, welcoming Gonzaga, East Texas A&M, and IU Indianapolis Sept. 10-12.

🔼 Fall Slate Unveiled. New head coach Nick Castro has released his first UTSA men's tennis fall schedule, with the Roadrunners set to compete in six events. The season opens at the Islander Open in Corpus Christi from Sept. 11-13, followed by ITA Texas Regionals in Fort Worth on TCU's campus Oct. 8-12. UTSA hosts the UTR Sports College Circuit at the UTSA Tennis Courts Oct. 16-18 before splitting the squad between the American Individual Championships in Houston and the Baylor Invitational in Waco later that month. The fall wraps with the SMU Invitational, ITA Masters/Sections in San Diego, and the NCAA Individual Championships in Athens, Georgia.

🔼 Staff Set. UTSA women's basketball has rounded out its 2026-27 coaching staff, promoting Samuel Limehouse to assistant coach/video coordinator and adding Max Cheap as a graduate assistant out of Oklahoma State. Cameron Miles returns for his sixth season on staff and second as associate head coach, while Chantel Govan adds lead guard coach to her duties and Sophia Ramos takes over the defense. Kyra White enters her second year on staff as an assistant, and Elyssa Coleman is back as director of operations after a season at ULM. Hannah Kenney joins as athletic trainer with Jaycie Staples as sports performance coach.
