The Roadrunners are celebrating their 15th season of football in 2025, and tomorrow’s Hometown Showdown between the UTSA and UIW will be the official recognition of the milestone.

The home opener is here, Roadrunners Fam. The Roadrunners are celebrating their 15th season of football in 2025. Tomorrow’s Hometown Showdown between the Roadrunners and UIW Cardinals will be the official recognition of the milestone, with dozens of former players from the 2011 team, as well as the first head coach in program history, Larry Coker, on hand. Fans who have been season-ticket holders all 15 years of the program can claim one commemorative ticket per ticket account at the season-ticket holder entrance (gate 3). Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Alamodome.

🔼 Records Are Made to Be Broken. With a historical night on the schedule celebrating UTSA soccer’s 20th season at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, and the long-standing cross-state rivalry with North Texas, the Roadrunners are looking to aim even higher. UTSA soccer seeks to break the single-game home attendance record at the Park West Athletics Complex.
🗣 “San Antonio, this is your night to show up and show out,” eighth-year head coach Derek Pittman said.
With plenty of support from the UTSA student-athletes at the annual Run as One game, the Roadrunners are asking San Antonio to join in the Run as One spirit, make Park West extra Rowdy, and cheer the squad to victory against the Mean Green.

🔼 Double-Doubles For Days. The Roadrunners fall to Kent State 3-2 (18-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 15-12) and defeat North Dakota 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-13) on Thursday, Sept. 11 at Betty Engelstad Sioux Center in Grand Forks, N.D.
Quick Hits:
- Ally Tribe picked up her third double-double of the season with 15 kills and 14 digs against Kent State.
- Taylor Gaines got her fourth double-digit kill match of the season with 11 kills against Kent State.
- Giada Obregon led the team in digs with 22 for the fourth time this season against Kent State, which tied her career high.
- Setter Ilaria Durante grabbed her third double-double of the season against Kent State, notching 17 assists and 11 digs.

🔼 Gone With the Wind. The 2025 UTSA cross country season officially begins today, as the Roadrunners will head across town to take on the UIW Invitational at the Windcrest Golf Club. The meet starts at 8 a.m. CT with the men's 4-mile race, followed by the women's 5K at 8:40 a.m.
Fellow NCAA Division I programs Texas, East Texas A&M, Texas State, and UTRGV will join UTSA and UIW at the event, while Texas A&M-International, Texas Lutheran, Texas Southmost College, Trinity, McMurry, Our Lady of the Lake, Schreiner, Southeastern Oklahoma and Texas A&M-Kingsville round out the field.

🔼 Forged in Fame. BMW of San Antonio announced Wednesday that it has signed on as the Presenting Sponsor of the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame.
BMW of San Antonio will provide on-site signage and an interactive vehicle display at the UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. In addition, inductees will be provided transportation to the event in a BMW vehicle.
The UTSA Athletics Hall of Fame, which began in 2023, will induct its third class on October 10, 2025, at Pedrotti’s Ranch.

🔼 Duly Noted. The Bexar County Commissioners’ Court has issued a proclamation recognizing the successes of the 2025 UTSA Baseball program, which recorded a historic season that included a school-record 47 victories, the American Conference regular-season championship, an NCAA Super Regional appearance, and the first top-10 NCAA finish by any UTSA sport.
The proclamation was made by Precinct 3 Commissioner Grant Moody. He was joined by County Judge Peter Sakai, Precinct 1 Commissioner Rebeca Clay-Flores, Precinct 2 Commissioner Justin Rodriguez, and Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert to commemorate the proclamation.
