Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. The UTSA volleyball team will open AAC play TONIGHT as they host North Texas in a Hispanic Heritage match TONIGHT at 6 p.m. in the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners (6-7, 0-0 The American) went 1-2 at the SFA Tournament last time out, first sweeping McNeese (25-21, 25-18, 25-22) before falling to Stephen F. Austin (20-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19) and Boise State (27-25, 25-14, 25-22).

Junior Mia Soerensen was dominant, making the all-tournament team after posting 30 kills at a .289 clip, 16 blocks, 17 digs, and three service aces.

🔼 Prepping For the Pirates. TOMORROW’S OPENING DRIVE 👇🏼
• UTSA and East Carolina will meet for the second time on Saturday.
• The Roadrunners registered a 41-27 home triumph over the Pirates in the first meeting on Oct. 28, 2023.
• UTSA is 8-4 all-time and a perfect 4-0 under head coach Jeff Traylor in conference openers.
• The Roadrunners have been victorious in 15 of their last 16 regular season league contests.
• Traylor will match Larry Coker for most games coached at UTSA with his 58th against East Carolina this Saturday.
• UTSA has won 10 of its last 13 games since last October.
• The Roadrunners are riding a streak of 14 consecutive games with a takeaway and a sack.

🔼 A Squeaky Clean Slate. Officials from the American Athletic Conference unveiled the conference-wide slate on Thursday, revealing the full 2024-25 UTSA men’s basketball conference schedule for the inaugural season under head coach Austin Claunch. With an almost completely newcomer-filled roster, the Roadrunners will kick off the AAC’s 18-game schedule on Saturday, Jan. 4, with a visit to Tulane at Devlin Fieldhouse in New Orleans. The AAC schedule will bring nine additional games to the UTSA home slate at the Convocation Center, raising the total to 14 contests in San Antonio for the season.

In total, UTSA’s 2024-25 schedule includes 14 games at the Convocation Center. Games not slated for linear television broadcast will be streamed via ESPN+. Full tip times and broadcast schedules will be announced at a later date.

🔼 Bring. It. On. On Wednesday, the American Athletic Conference officially unveiled the 2024-25 league schedule, with UTSA set to play an 18-game slate, including nine in the Convocation Center. The 2024-25 AAC tipoff times and TV matchups will be revealed later.

UTSA will open conference play in Wichita, Kansas, on Sunday, Dec. 29, with a showdown against Wichita State. The Runners will then head to The Convo to ring in the new year, facing the Mean Green on Wednesday, Jan. 1.

The campaign will conclude on Tuesday, Mar. 4, with UTSA playing Rice in Houston, Texas.

The American Championships will once again return to Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, with the event spanning Mar. 8-12.

🔼 Onward and Upward. It certainly wasn’t the result we were hoping for, but the Roadrunners soccer team members can hold their heads up high after that valiant battle on the pitch. The team now turns to the next task at hand—a home matchup against Rice at 1 PM CST on Sunday.

🔼 No Strokes of Luck Needed. Daniela Abonce posted a 1-under-par scorecard that included an eagle to lead the UTSA women’s golf team in the final round of the Red Raider Invitational, which wrapped up on Wednesday at The Rawls Course (par 72/6,877 yards).

Abonce’s 71 helped the Roadrunners register a team score of 297 on the final day of the 54-hole tournament and finish in ninth place with an 885 after logging rounds of 289 and 299 on Monday. UTSA finished eight strokes ahead of New Mexico State and 19 in front of UTEP, also ending up ahead of Nebraska (920) in the 16-team field.

Abonce recorded an eagle-three on the ninth hole and also added birdies on the par-3, sixth, par-4 15th, and par-5 18th en route to her third par-or-better round of the season.
