Rios is deadlocked with New Mexico’s Ava Cepeda at 3-under-par 141 atop the leaderboard through the first 36 holes, while the Roadrunners are knotted with Abilene Christian at 9-over 585 (296-289) for third, four shots off the pace set by host Texas Tech.

Daniela Abonce and Sydney Bisgrove — who is playing as an individual — are part of a tie for 17th place at 4-over 148.

🔼 They Hit ‘Em Straight. Led by a trio of top-30 finishes and a 2-under-par scorecard from Logan Vargas in the final round, the UTSA men’s golf team finished in eighth place at the Badger Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at TPC Wisconsin (par 72/7,272 yards).

The Roadrunners registered an 871 (292-290-289) for the tournament to finish one shot ahead of a tie between Minnesota and Oakland and 14 strokes in front of host Wisconsin. UTSA was only three shots behind Xavier and 10 out of the top five in the 14-team field.

Joshua Hong was UTSA’s top finisher for the week, earning a share of 24th at 2-over 218.

🔼 Testing, Testing … 1, 2, 3. For the third time this season, a UTSA soccer Roadrunner has been announced for major weekly honors from the American Conference, as officials from the league office announced Monday that Kameron Kloza has been named American Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the rivalry win over North Texas. In addition, senior Izzy Lane (her first career conference honor at UTSA) and junior Jasmine Kessler (her third Honorable Mention of the season and fourth overall honor of the year) received Honorable Mention in the weekly accolades. With that key win, UTSA remained perfect in early conference play and is tied for the top spot in the American.

Kloza’s is the third major American award for the Roadrunners this season, following up Kessler’s Goalkeeper of the Week (Aug. 25) and Kamryn Watson’s Freshman of the Week (Sept.). In total, UTSA has garnered six Honorable Mentions this season to date.

🔼 Get in the Vann, We’re Going Winning. On Monday, head UTSA softball coach Vann Stuedeman officially released the fall schedule, with the Roadrunners set to invite seven opponents into Roadrunner Field.

The ‘Runners will open things up with two games on Saturday, Sept. 27, with matchups against Trinity Valley and St. Edwards beginning at 1 p.m. CT.

On Friday, Oct. 3, UTSA will host San Jacinto at 2 p.m., followed by a matchup against Texas A&M-San Antonio on Saturday, Oct. 4, also at 2 p.m.
