Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. UTSA Athletics has released information for fans planning to attend the Roadrunners’ home game against Houston Christian on Saturday, Sept. 21. Kickoff is set for 2:30 PM CST at the Alamodome.

With the start of Hispanic Heritage Month on Sept. 15, Saturday’s matchup against the Houston Christian Huskies is the annual Hispanic Heritage Game.

The Roadrunners will also honor first responders (police, fire, sheriff, EMS, etc.). UTSA is offering a buy-one, get-one ticket promotion for the game for all first responders in the area. First responders can go here and use their work email address to take advantage of the offer or call the UTSA Athletics Ticket Office at (210) 458-8872.

🔼 Pirates Walk Their Own Plank. The UTSA soccer team (6-3, 1-1 AAC) showed the necessary grit to triumph over an aggressive East Carolina (4-2-3, 1-1 AAC) squad on Thursday night at Johnson Stadium. Tyler Coker and Sasjah Dade netted goals in the 2-0 shutout victory over the home-standing Pirates for one of the Roadrunners’ most complete games of the year so far.

Leading UTSA to its fifth shutout of the season and her fourth solo clean sheet, sophomore goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler notched her ninth career solo shutout – taking sole possession of third on the UTSA career list.

🔼 Say Nacogdoches Ten Times Fast. The UTSA volleyball team is back on the road, headed for Nacogdoches, Texas, where they'll compete against McNeese, Stephen F. Austin, and Boise State at the SFA Tournament.

The 'Runners will meet the McNeese on Friday at 10 AM PST, ahead of a 5 PM showdown with host-school SFA. UTSA then concludes the tournament at 11 AM on Saturday, facing Boise State.

🔼 Flash-Forward. The perfect way to celebrate a Roadrunners’ touchdown and directly support student-athletes, UTSA Athletics will debut its “NIL Flash Give” following each touchdown at the Alamodome.

Fans are encouraged to direct their attention to the video boards immediately after each touchdown for the “NIL Flash Give,” where they can scan the QR code that will be displayed. The linked Runners Go Bold page will allow UTSA fans to select from three NIL collectives – 210 Inspired, City Fans 210, and Runners Rising Project – through which they can support the program’s student-athletes.

🔼 The Inaugural Run. OPENING DRIVE 👇🏼
• UTSA and Houston Christian will meet for the first time on Saturday.
• Since the start of their transition to FBS status in 2012, the Roadrunners are a perfect 8-0 versus FCS opponents, including 3-0 under fifth-year head coach Jeff Traylor.
• Houston Christian will mark UTSA’s third consecutive opponent from the state of Texas.
• The Roadrunners are 35-22 all-time and 15-6 under Jeff Traylor against teams from the state of Texas.
• UTSA is 24-3 (.889) at the Alamodome in the Jeff Traylor era.
• The Roadrunners have won 12 of their last 13 home games.
• Jeff Traylor boasts a 40-16 overall record at UTSA, the most wins and best winning percentage (.714) in program history.
• The Roadrunners have won nine of their last 12 games dating back to last October.
• UTSA has won nine or more games in each of the past three seasons.
• UTSA is riding a streak of 13 consecutive games with a takeaway.

🔼 Brew, But Make it Español. As part of its continuing commitment to unite the community and connect with San Antonio’s rich Hispanic Heritage, UTSA Athletics has launched a Spanish-language version of its Brew-1-0. UTSA will become the first school in the nation to partner with Sport & Story to publish a Spanish-language edition of its free thrice-weekly newsletter (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). 

As always, the Brew will give fans a rundown of top news and notes, trivia questions, feature stories, highlights, and information on upcoming games and events.
