It was a historic thriller for the ages! UTSA got its 100th program victory in dramatic fashion Saturday, rallying past Texas State 31-26 in the Battle for I-35 on a 25-yard Brandon High Jr. touchdown run in the final seconds. Down 17-7 at the half, the Roadrunners outscored the Bobcats 24-9 after the break and converted two fourth downs on the game-winning drive, which started at their own 18 with 4:31 left.
Owen McCown went 28-for-42 for 214 yards, while Brandon Tucker posted 13 tackles, the most by a Roadrunner since 2021. UTSA is 2-0 for the first time since 2021 and heads to Austin next Saturday to face No. 1 Texas.

🔼 Sizzling September. UTSA volleyball closed out the Roadrunner Classic with a sweep of IU Indy, running its winning streak to five matches and 13 straight sets, good for the program's longest such run since November 2013. The Roadrunners hit .403 as a team, their best mark of the fall, and have now cleared .300 in four consecutive matches for the first time since 2016. Redshirt freshman Sydney Bryant was named tournament MVP after a 15-kill afternoon on a .636 clip, with Caroline Tredwell and Gigi Mason joining her on the all-tournament team. UTSA heads to Houston next week for the Flo Hyman Classic.
🔼 Gold & Silver. UTSA cross country had two standouts at Saturday's UIW Invitational! Meryeme Mai won the 5k outright in 17:12 in her Roadrunner debut, the first event victory by a UTSA woman since 2017, leading the team to a fourth-place finish. On the men's side, Andruw Villa took silver for the second straight week, clocking 25:09 in his first UTSA 8k as the Roadrunners also placed fourth. Freshman Cadence Harris was next in for the women at 12th, while David Zuniga followed Villa in 12th for the men.
🔼 Eight Events Ahead. UTSA women's tennis’ 2026 fall slate is here, an eight-event schedule that includes two tournaments at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners open Sept. 18-20 at the Kimbell Memorial Invitational across town before heading to Houston for the Rice Fall Invitational. October brings the Texas ITA Regional Championships in Waco and the American Conference Individual Championships in Houston, with the fall wrapping at home Nov. 6-8. UTSA returns five players from a squad that went 9-2 at the UTSA Tennis Center last season, joined by three newcomers.
