Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. Goodwill San Antonio will partner with UTSA Athletics in support of the 2-1-0 Challenge to unite the San Antonio community and fill the stands at the Alamodome for the 2025 season.

Goodwill’s Business Services team, which provides outsourced business solutions in the community and facilitates access to meaningful work for individuals with barriers to employment, will dedicate call-center representatives to initiate outbound ticket sales while providing friendly and reliable customer service that supports UTSA Athletics Ticket Sales. 

The 2-1-0 Challenge calls for UTSA Athletics to unite the community and sell an additional 1,500 club-level season tickets to UTSA Football during August for just $210.

🔼 When the Veep Speaks. UTSA Athletics and the Rowdy Creative Agency will launch Convos with Campos, a new monthly podcast hosted by Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos, on Monday, Aug. 11.

Convos with Campos will feature conversations with prominent leaders at UTSA, within the San Antonio community and beyond, particularly as it relates to empowering women. The podcast will be available on the @RowdyCreative YouTube page and major audio podcast providers.

“I have the privilege of interacting with so many impactful leaders,” Campos said. “Through our conversations, I hope our viewers and listeners will benefit from hearing the guests’ stories and leadership lessons.”

🔼 Positivity Off the Pitch. UTSA junior soccer player Jasmine Kessler has been named a nominee for the 2025 Fall Allstate NACDA Good Works Team for her positive community contributions. Kessler is among 128 student-athlete nominees across all divisions and sports who go above and beyond in their commitment to community service, academic achievement and athletic performance.

Kessler has shown consistency in her commitment to service while leading all UTSA student-athletes in individual community service hours last year. One of her core efforts was weekly volunteering with Rowdy Readers, a literacy program at a local NISD elementary school.

🔼 Vann-edictorians. The 2024-25 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes were officially unveiled by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday, as the Roadrunners had 11 student-athletes recognized under second-year head coach Vann Stuedeman.

The award, which has been issued since the 2013-14 season, recognizes the academic prowess of softball teams across the NFCA’s membership categories.

🔼 Teeing This Up. The UTSA men’s golf team has announced its 2025-26 schedule, which features a home tournament at TPC San Antonio in February, regular-season trips to five other states, and a spring season opener in Mexico.

The Roadrunners will tee off their fourth season under head coach Matt Wernecke on Sept. 7-9 when they travel to the Bayou State for the Argent Financial Invitational hosted by Louisiana Tech at Squire Creek Country Club in Choudrant.

Calling an Audible. UTSA redshirt junior QB Owen McCown has landed on the preseason watch list for the 2025 Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award.

McCown is one of 36 FBS quarterbacks selected to the watch list for the award presented annually to the nation’s best college quarterback. He joins Navy’s Blake Horvath as the only two signal callers from the American Conference.

McCown started all 13 games last year and completed 294 of 467 passes for 3,424 yards and 25 touchdowns.

UTSA quarterback Owen McCown made his first start as a Roadrunner in the 35-17 victory over Marshall in the 2023 Frisco Bowl, the program’s first-ever bowl win. He threw for 251 yards and two TDs on 22-of-31 passing in that bowl game victory against the Thundering Herd.
