🔼 Tye-ing Loose Ends. UTSA Athletics is a national leader in supporting first-generation student-athletes. Throughout the 2025-26 school year, GoUTSA.com will spotlight the department’s first-generation student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff.
Tye Odom will be a senior on the UTSA Baseball team in 2026. He is a first-generation college student from Kingsville, Texas.
Q: Why is attending college and graduating important for you?
Odom: “I’m a first-generation college student from a small town, Kingsville, Texas. The population is less than 20,000 people, and I moved here to a big city in San Antonio to go to UTSA. My parents not having a degree and working hard their whole lives just allowed me to get the opportunity to come here.”

🔼 Going the Distance. Head Track & Field coach Aaron Fox announced the addition of former Texas A&M standout Harrison Tillman to the coaching staff as an assistant coach, with responsibilities including cross country and distance events.
Tillman spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach in a similar role at Meridian Community College, where he helped Privilege Chikara to a 2024 NJCAA Women's Indoor National Championship in the 800m and a seven-second personal record. He also saw Nhamoinesu Mabvuka finish third in the 2025 NJCAA Women's Outdoor 5,000-meter.

🔼 Scout’s Honor. These were some extra special drills for the UTSA soccer team.

🔼 When the Convo Calls. Head coach Karen Aston announced the addition of UTSA women's basketball alumna Kyra White as the program's newest Director of Operations.
White will return to the Convo after spending 2024-25 competing professionally for Fr. Mathews Basketball Club in the Irish Super League.
Before entering the professional ranks, she spent two seasons at UTSA, winning All-Texas Honorable Mention by Dave Campbell Texas Basketball as a junior in 2022-23. As a senior, White helped UTSA reach new heights as the squad went 18-15, collecting the program's most wins and first national postseason berth since the 2008-09 campaign.
🗣 "It's always a goal of mine to pay it forward, and while I am so appreciative of Elyssa's [Coleman] contributions, I am equally as excited about Kyra's future in our profession." - Coach Aston
