Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. UTSA’s Owen McCown has landed on the watch list for the Golden Arm Award.

McCown is one of 58 FBS players selected for the watch list for the award that is presented annually to the top senior or upperclassman quarterback who is on track to graduate with their class. This marks the fourth preseason watch list on which McCown has earned a spot.

The redshirt junior opened the 2024 season by throwing for 340 yards and three scores on 28-of-38 passing in the 28-16 victory over Kennesaw State and was named Manning Award QB of the Week.

🔼 A Running Start. Edging up against the start of his first semester at UTSA as a transfer from Texas A&M-Kingsville, Roadrunners track and field signee David Guzman will be representing his home country this week in Paraguay during the 2025 Junior Pan American Games.

Guzman is set to compete for Mexico in both the shot put and discus throw in Asunción, Paraguay. The Mexico U20 shot put record holder and 2022 and 2023 U20 National Champion, Guzman just earned bronze medals in both events at the all-classes Mexican Championships. In July, he collected silver in the shot put and also a bronze in the discus at the Olimpiada Nacional Conade 2025 National U23 Championships.

🔼 Links With Love. UTSA and USAA teamed up for the inaugural Lil' Champions Golf Clinic on Saturday at TPC San Antonio to teach 20 children from military families chipping and putting.

🔼 Yeah, That’s the Ticket. UTSA Athletics has named Tanya Perez Associate Athletics Director for Ticket Sales and Retention, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Lisa Campos announced.

Perez joins the Roadrunners with more than 15 years of experience in professional sports, most recently as Vice President of Business Operations for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays of the North American Hockey League. Since joining the Ice Rays in October 2023, Perez helped increase attendance by 16 percent, game-night revenue by 32 percent and ticket sales by 41 percent.

🔼 The Keeper Of Goals. UTSA goalkeeper Jasmine Kessler prevents goals on the field, but her goals to be a part of the criminal justice system in real life are even loftier.
