UTSA Baseball's James Taussig and tennis player Danijal Muminovic were named Men’s Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. UTSA Baseball’s James Taussig was named the American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and The American Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Joining him in this honor is Danijal Muminovic, who was named Men’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Taussig is the first UTSA student-athlete to be named an American Scholar-Athlete of the year. He is also the first Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year UTSA has had in its history. Taussig was recently named the Austin Regional Most Outstanding Player, among many other accolades.
Muminovic capped his UTSA career with honors as an American Conference Sport Scholar-Athlete of the Year, rounding out a banner year for the honors grad from Tuzla, Bosnia.

🔼 OMG For OMC. UTSA redshirt junior quarterback Owen McCown has earned a spot on the Maxwell Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the outstanding player in college football. He is one of three players from the American Conference on the watch list.
McCown started all 13 games last year and completed 294 of 467 passes for 3,424 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also rushed for 340 yards and three TDs to tally 3,764 yards of total offense. The left-hander logged four 300-yard passing games, including a school-record 434 yards and four touchdowns against Tulsa, and topped the 200-yard mark in seven additional contests.

🔼 Right On Track. Both UTSA track & field programs have been honored with team and individual academic accolades from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA).
The women boasted a 3.47 team GPA, and the men posted a 3.11 team GPA. In addition, 13 total Roadrunners received honors as USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes, with nine from the women’s team and four from the men’s squad.

🔼 Keeping Score. UTSA’s Walker Franklin and Jack Wehman have been honored as 2024-25 NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.
Franklin appeared in all 10 events during his final season as a Roadrunner. A native of Westminster, Colorado, he registered a 75.67 stroke average over 30 rounds and tallied five par-or-better scorecards in 2024-25. Wehman wrapped up his UTSA career by playing in seven events in 2024-25, registering a 74.76 stroke average over 21 rounds and logging eight par-or-better scorecards.

🔼 Z Best News. UTSA rising senior Logan Zurn fired a 4-under-par 68 to tie for fifth place at a U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier on Monday at Rockwall Golf & Athletic Club and earn a spot in the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship field.
Sitting several places below the cut line at 1-under par entering the final stretch, Zurn birdied his final three holes to move into qualifying position and secure a trip to the West Coast next month.
