Good Morning, UTSA Fam. UTSA unveiled its final six annual Rowdys awards for 2025-26, highlighted by women's basketball earning Team of the Year and head coach Karen Aston taking Coach of the Year after the program's American Conference Tournament championship run. Track and field's Jemuel Miller and Ida Breigan swept the Outstanding Athlete awards, while women's basketball's Ereauna Hardaway and baseball's Lane Haworth were named Newcomers of the Year.

All award recipients will be recognized at halftime of the Aug. 23 home soccer match against St. Mary's.

🔼 New Season. We are just nine days away from the Texas vs. UTSA soccer Exhibition at Park West as the first athletic event of the 2026-27 school year! Grab your August 5th exhibition game tickets here, and your season tickets here.

🔼 Five On The Watch. Five UTSA football players landed on the Shriners Children's 1000 watch list for the 2027 East-West Bowl: quarterback Owen McCown, running back Will Henderson III, wide receivers David Amador II and AJ Wilson, and linebacker Owen Pewee. McCown enters his final season third in school history with 6,861 passing yards, while Henderson's 866 rushing yards as a freshman were the second most in a season by a first-year Roadrunner. Wilson averaged 17.0 yards per catch, fourth on the program's single-season list.

🔼 Donation Drive. UTSA volleyball kicks off the 2026 season on Aug. 7 with a free kids clinic at 5 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. intrasquad scrimmage at the Convocation Center. Fans are encouraged to bring new school supplies as part of a Stuff the Bus drive benefiting Communities in Schools of San Antonio.

🔼 Island To Convo Connection. UTSA women's basketball and Puerto Rico keep finding each other. Former Roadrunner Nina De Leon Negron helped Puerto Rico win the 2026 Centrobasket Qualifiers title this month while rising sophomore Adriana Robles earned a U20 call-up for the Central American and Caribbean Games.

De Leon Negron ran the point during UTSA's record-setting 26-5 conference championship season in 2024-25 before going pro, while Robles posted 72 assists as a freshman and helped the Roadrunners win the 2026 American Conference Tournament to reach the NCAA Tournament. Head coach Karen Aston has now coached three Puerto Rican point guards in her career, including Carla Cortijo at Texas, the first Puerto Rican to play in the WNBA.
