Head soccer coach Derek Pittman has agreed to a new deal that will extend his contract through the 2029 season.

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. After leading UTSA soccer through its transition into the AAC and building the Roadrunners into one of the most dangerous defensive squads in the league, head coach Derek Pittman has agreed to a new deal that will extend his contract and keep him in San Antonio through the 2029 season.

In addition to the culture Pittman has fully established for the Roadrunners heading into the program’s historic 20th season, he engineered a meteoric rise over the past few years that included a 2022 Conference USA Championship, the first NCAA appearance in 12 years and three of the top four most-winning seasons in program history. Under Pittman’s leadership the ‘Runners have raised the on-field product at the Park West Athletics Complex so much that UTSA was able to set new attendance records and led The American in average attendance in each of their first two seasons in the league.

🔼 Norway Or Bust. The 2025 European Athletics U23 Championships are set to get under way this week at Fana Stadion in Bergen, Norway. The UTSA track and field team is well-represented in Norway, with five Roadrunners from the 2025 roster and one incoming freshman appearing in the competition: Ida Breigan, Selma Ims, Rachela Pace, Edlin Laur, Mia Lien and Roadrunner-to-be Hendrik Kookmaa.

The 2025 U23 Euro Championships run from July 17-20 and can be viewed live through the Championships’ YouTube page. For a full rundown of the events, check the Euros event schedule. Meet information can be found here.

🔼 We’re Just Spitballing Here… UTSA Athletics on Thursday launched the Rowdy Creative Agency to enhance the department’s brand visibility, directly support student-athlete brand building, drive storytelling and expand the fan experience. Bringing together staff from brand engagement, broadcast, communications, creative, fan experience and spirit under one umbrella will allow the Roadrunners to continue to drive innovation and creativity.

The Rowdy Creative Agency consists of 15 full-time staff members, a graduate assistant, a student assistant and more than 40 student interns, volunteers and work-study students.
