Brew-1-0 5/8: Coming Home to Texas
🤙The Official Newsletter For UTSA Athletics, brought to you by Chama Gaúcha
Good Morning, UTSA Fam. UTSA Athletics celebrated its student-athletes this week with comedian Steve Treviño emceeing the annual Rowdys awards show. Women's basketball owned the night with Moment of the Year for winning the American Conference Tournament and earning an NCAA bid, while Brianna Carrigan's overtime goal to clinch the conference soccer championship took Clutch Play of the Year.

Lauren Rios (women's golf) earned both the Comeback Player and Roadrunner Pride awards, and Broc Parmer (baseball) and Michelle Polo (soccer) were named Hathaway Academic Athletes of the Year alongside Rios. The softball team took home the Community Service Award, and the cheer squad earned the Rowdy Cup. Outstanding athlete and newcomer of the year winners will be announced this summer.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Road Test. UTSA baseball is in first place in the league standings, and hits the road tonight through Sunday for a three-game American Conference series at Memphis. The Roadrunners need five wins across their final six league games to clinch a second-straight outright conference regular-season title, and the squad carries one of the nation's most potent offenses: seventh in runs scored, 15th in batting average, and 11th in on-base percentage. Conor Myles has been nearly untouchable in conference play, going 6-0 with a 1.79 ERA and allowing just one earned run over his last 21 innings. First pitch tonight is 6 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
🔼 A Season To Build On. UTSA softball's 2026 season ended with a 7-6 heartbreaker against North Texas in the American Conference Tournament, but not before the Roadrunners picked up their first conference tournament win in several years with an 8-6 victory over Memphis.
The Roadrunners' 24 wins are the most since 2015, continuing a steady climb under head coach Vann Stuedeman, from eight wins before her arrival, to 15, to 21, to 23 in the regular season, and now 24. With four all-conference selections, a program-best 7-0 start to league play, and a young core anchored by Wick, Hernandez, and Brookelynn Meador, the foundation is firmly in place.

🔼 Coming Home to Texas. UTSA men's basketball added its third transfer of the offseason in 6-5 guard Shey Eberwein, who returns to Texas after two seasons at South Dakota. The Woodlands native averaged 7.7 points on 45.5 percent shooting last season and brings the kind of two-way versatility Coach Austin Claunch is building around. Eberwein was a prolific prep scorer, ranking second on The Woodlands' all-time scoring list with 1,708 career points and holding school records for single-game scoring (44) and free throw attempts (247). He earned TABC 6A All-State honors and was District 13-6A MVP as a senior.
