Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. The UTSA baseball team fought back from a seven-run deficit to defeat Rice 15-7 in game one of the three-game series on Thursday, May 15, at Roadrunner Field. The Roadrunners now have 40 dubs, the most wins in a single season in program history.

🔼 Stoked On These Results. The biggest performance of the opening day of competition at the AAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships belonged to senior Garrett Stokes with a new school record and the first UTSA medal of the meet. In addition, hurdlers Selma Ims and Hugo Menin advanced to their respective finals on the first day of action, Thursday at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center.

🔼 A Hallmark Moment. The UTSA Baseball program is in the midst of hosting its final regular-season weekend of the 2025 season through Saturday, playing host to Rice at Roadrunner Field. The senior day ceremony begins at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) and a celebration of UTSA’s American Athletic Conference Championship will be held after the game.
Coach Pat Hallmark took the time to share what it means to have ‘Runners fans come out to support this ultra-successful team as they wrap a banner season.

🔼 On Their Marks. The track and field outdoor postseason begins this week for the UTSA Roadrunners, traveling to the AAC Outdoor Championships, being held through tomorrow (Saturday) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Live coverage is slated on ESPN+.
Participating in this year’s championships is a 37-Roadrunner roster. The women’s squad entered the meet at 44th nationally. Ida Breigan finished second in the long jump in 2023-24 after winning indoors. On the men’s side, the Roadrunners have no reigning champions from last year, but Jemuel Miller earned the silver in the triple jump in 2023-24.

🔼 Lights, Camera, Action. Stephen Cupitt first got involved in live production when he was just seven years old, doing lighting design at a church in Houston. That experience prepared him to be part of the Roadrunners’ inaugural ESPN+ broadcast production team when it went live from the program’s brand-new, state-of-the-art $5 million control rooms last spring.
Becoming a member of the AAC last season, the Roadrunners were expected to produce many of the program’s home sporting events on ESPN+ at a minimum standard that met requirements established by both The American and ESPN.

🔼 Let Us Tell You a Story. Fulfilling the important mission of telling student-athlete stories and helping student-athletes build their personal brands, the UTSA Athletics strategic communications team has told more than 100 in-depth stories of the Roadrunners’ during the 2024-25 academic year through a variety of mediums, in addition to regular daily coverage of UTSA’s 17 sport programs.
This week, UTSA Athletics has earned recognition for its storytelling work during the 2024-25 season from Sports Video Group and for the 2024 calendar year from College Sports Communicators. Four videos produced by the UTSA Athletics team were named finalists for the 2025 Sports Video Group College Sports Media Awards.

Triangle of Talent. Arina Babenko, Vittoria Baccino and Letizia Corsini have all been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team thanks to their hard work on the court and in the classroom. CSC's 2025 Academic All-District Women's Tennis Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
Babenko had an outstanding year on the court as she racked up a 16-1 record in singles. She is majoring in Multidisciplinary Studies with an overall GPA of 3.61. Baccino held a 15-4 record in singles play, and is majoring in Kinesiology with a 3.55 GPA. Corsini is getting her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, holding an overall GPA of 3.6. Corsini won 11 singles matches this year with an 8-5 record on No. 1.
