🤙The Official Newsletter For UTSA Athletics, brought to you by La Panaderia
Good Morning, UTSA Fam.

Roadrunner fans can get their first look at the 2026 squad when UTSA hosts its free spring game at noon on Saturday, April 25, at the Alamodome. Doors open at 11 a.m. via Gate 1 (north) or Gate 7 (south), with general admission seating on the Plaza Level. Fans are encouraged to donate $10 to the Football Excellence Fund in lieu of a ticket price, and everyone gets to grab a free 2026 schedule poster and hit the field after the final whistle. The spring game caps 15 workouts that began March 23, with the regular season kicking off Sept. 5 against UTRGV. Coach Jeff Traylor enters his seventh year at the helm with a 53-26 record and a remarkable 33-5 mark at home.

🔼 Going Yard. UTSA baseball (23-10, 6-3) rolled to a 6-2 win at Tarleton State last night, capping a five-game road trip with back-to-back first-inning home runs from Drew Detlefsen (his 12th of the season) and Andrew Stucky (his ninth). Detlefsen added a sacrifice fly in the second for his 42nd RBI on the year. Freshman Christopher Gutierrez was sharp in relief, tossing two scoreless innings to lower his team-best ERA to 1.59, and the Roadrunners have now allowed just two runs over their last 25 innings. UTSA returns home to host South Florida in a three-game American Conference series starting Friday at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

🔼 What A Scientist Looks Like. UTSA softball's starting third baseman Madison Hornback is channeling her love of science into a neuroscience degree and a dream of becoming a pediatric hematologist and oncologist. Read her full story at the UTSA College of Sciences.

🔼 Clean Sweep. Daisy Monie and Jemuel Miller both earned American Conference Field Athlete of the Week recognition after standout performances at the Texas Relays. Monie set a UTSA record in the discus at 51.83m, the No. 2 mark in the American, and won the shot put at 15.94m, which ranks third in program history and leads the American standings. Miller opened his outdoor triple jump season with a 15.71m effort, good for eighth nationally and first in the American.
The Roadrunners head to College Station for the 44 Farms Team Invitational at Texas A&M on April 9-11.

🔼 Bark at the Park. UTSA baseball is hosting Bark at the Park on Saturday against USF! We’ll see you and your furry friend there.
