Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. UTSA dominated Tulane 25-7 in the rubber match for their fifth consecutive American Athletic Conference series win on Saturday, April 19, at Roadrunner Field.

The 25 runs were UTSA’s season high. UTSA also had 25 RBIs, another season high. Both Diego Diaz and Norris McClure recorded eight RBIs, which is just one RBI short of tying the program record. McClure got his first four-hit game of the season.

🔼 For All the Marbles. The UTSA men’s golf team will travel to Sarasota, Florida, to compete in the AAC Men’s Golf Championship, which will be contested today through Wednesday, April 21-23, at Ritz-Carlton Members Club (par 72/7,292 yards). The field will play 18 holes with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT each day.

🔼 A Man Among Menin. Saturday’s action in California at the 65th Mt. SAC Relays provided the Roadrunners with multiple PR opportunities at Hilmer Lodge Stadium, led by an All-American level performance by senior transfer Hugo Menin late in the day. Saturday’s events also closed the book on the historic national meet for the season.

Into the afternoon’s late running events, Tarleton State transfer Menin (Cysoing, France) rolled out to a career-best 49.77 clocking in the invitational 400m hurdles. That mark not only earned him the overall silver but was the top collegiate performance behind only former Texas A&M All-American James Smith II. Menin’s time also shot up the national standings and set a new No. 3 performance in the nation and is the second-fastest UTSA all-time mark.

🤙 ONE BIG THING

Le Roux Has Le Hops. Haley Aguayo, Sports Editor at The Paisano, writes, “South African native Christiaan Le Roux came to UTSA in 2021 and has made headway in his long-jumping career since then. Earning a spot as one of UTSA’s top five performers in program history, along with a top 40 track & field national rank and becoming a three-time conference champ, Le Roux has proven himself exceptional on the track & field team.

“Hailing from Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool, a school notorious for producing rugby athletes, the former Affie grew up in an area far different from and much smaller than UTSA.”
