🔼 A Quarter For Your Thoughts. The UTSA Roadrunners defeated the ninth-seeded UAB Blazers 4-3 on Thursday at the Leftwich Tennis Center in Memphis, Tennessee, in the first round of the 2025 AAC Women’s Tennis Championship. With the win, the Roadrunners advance to the quarterfinals, where they will take on the first-seeded Florida Atlantic Owls at 9 a.m. CT this morning.
The Roadrunners are now 19-4 with a singles record of 74-32. UTSA now has a doubles record of 38-21.

🔼 Not to Be Outdone! The sixth-seeded UTSA men’s tennis team (12-10) is moving on to the AAC Quarterfinals after mounting a comeback victory past 11th-seed Tulane (5-17) on Thursday afternoon at the Leftwich Family Tennis Center. With a late-match deficit at a single point, senior Miguel Alonso and freshman Oskar Grzegorzewski provided back-to-back third-set scores, Alonso providing the setup and Grzegorzewski clinching the 4-3 triumph over the Green Wave – the first conference tournament win for the Roadrunners since 2023 and UTSA’s fifth consecutive victory.
UTSA advances to the AAC Championships Quarterfinal for the first time since joining the league, slated to square off with No. 3 seed (No. 67 nationally) Florida Atlantic (10-8) this morning 10 a.m.

🔼 Bird Bath is Where It’s At. Roadrunners pick up their eleventh American Athletic Conference win of the season, defeating Tulane 13-5 on Thursday at Roadrunner Field.
The Roadrunners are now 18-1 at home. Mason Lytle had two hits in the game for his 20th multi-hit game of the season. Norris McClure recorded three hits and three RBIs for his 11th multi-hit game and fourth multi-RBI game of the season. James Taussig drove in four runs for the first time this season.

🔼 More UTSA HERstory. UTSA Softball’s fourth-year seniors Lindsey Davis and Camryn Robillard have seen just about everything during their time as Roadrunners but, on Tuesday, they experienced something they hadn’t previously accomplished – earning a win against Texas State in the Battle of I-35.
UTSA on Tuesday claimed its 17th victory on the season, its most since the 2022 campaign, and captured its first win against the Bobcats since 2019 with a 6-0 decision at Roadrunner Field. It’s just another step in the Roadrunners’ ascent under second-year head coach Vann Stuedeman.

🔼 Laid Down the Gauntlet. The UTSA softball team kick-started an AAC series against Charlotte in style as freshman Sabrina Wick hit her first collegiate home run and junior Katia Reyes pitched a complete game for a 5-2 victory on Thursday at Daughtridge Stadium.
The Roadrunners (18-26, 4-15 The American) took down the 49ers (23-24, 11-8 The American), with Reyes (3-2) fanning three in the win. Along with Wick, freshman Skylar Rucker and sophomore Taryn Madlock recorded RBIs in the effort.

🔼 Fundamentally Sound. Entering this weekend’s AAC series with Tulane, the UTSA Baseball team sits in first place in the league and brings an exciting style of play to the field that a record number of fans have turned out to watch this season.
The home runs, the defensive gems and the aggressive baserunning have been staples in the Roadrunners’ highlight reels this season. But the reason for UTSA’s success isn’t flashy, it’s just effective.
“I think we’re good at the fundamentals,” UTSA’s sixth-year head coach Pat Hallmark said.

🔼 Relaying Important News. The UTSA track and field teams are headed west this weekend, scheduled to visit Walnut, California, to compete in the historic 65th Mt. SAC Relays at the newly-renovated Hilmer Lodge Stadium, through Saturday, April 19.
Only 33 Roadrunners (17 women, 16 men) are set to join in this national competition over the weekend, facing elite opposition from across the nation.

🔼 Strokes Of Near Genius. Top-15 finishes by Lauren Rios and Morgan Ellison guided UTSA to a seventh-place finish at the AAC Championship, which concluded Wednesday. Rios tied for 13th at 4-over-par 220 and Ellison was one shot behind in 15th to lead the way for the Roadrunners, who ended up in sole possession of seventh with an 893 (298-298-297).
Rios registered the top finish of her UTSA career with a 13th-place tie. Additionally, her 220 was only one shot off her career-best 54-hole total of 3-over 219 from the Chevron Collegiate in February. Ellison turned in UTSA’s best score in the final round with a 1-over 73 that featured birdies on the 476-yard, par-5 seventh and 138-yard, par-3 17th holes.
