Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. As UTSA Athletics continues its impressive rise in its second year as a member of the AAC, success in competition has led to record-breaking attendance and ticket-sales figures.
Among the accomplishments for UTSA Athletics in the first quarter of 2025 are all-time single-game attendance records in both women’s basketball and baseball.
UTSA set a single-game attendance record of 2,250 fans in the WBB season finale against FAU on March 1, shattering the previous record of 2,000 attendees set in 1991.

🔼 The Right Side of Battle I-35. After completing a halted game from earlier in the season, the UTSA softball team took down a Texas State squad that was receiving votes nationally, 6-0 on Tuesday at Roadrunner Field. The victory was the ‘Runners first Battle of I-35 win since the 2019 campaign, and it snapped a 12-game skid against the rival Bobcats.
In game two, freshman Ava Eldridge (5-7) scattered four hits across a complete-game shutout for the win. Sophomore Taryn Madlock was stellar for UTSA, making multiple sensational defensive plays in right field, and recording a three-run home run that helped put the game out of reach.

🔼 Seeds of Determination. The UTSA men’s tennis team (11-10) was selected as the No. 6 seed for the upcoming AAC Men’s Tennis Championships, and will face off with No. 11 Tulane (5-16) in the first round tomorrow, April 17, at 2 p.m. CT in Memphis, Tennessee. The winner will move on to face third-seeded Florida Atlantic (10-8) on April 18 at 10 a.m.
The Roadrunners finished the regular season at 11-10, rolling into the tournament with a four-match win streak in progress.
The tournament continues through the Sunday, April 20, for the final. The winner will earn The American’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Tennis Championships.

🔼 Great-8. The American Athletic Conference has announced its seeds and pairings for the upcoming AAC Women’s Tennis Championships in Memphis, and the UTSA women’s tennis (18-4) team was selected as the No. 8 seed. The team will take on the No. 9 UAB Blazers (14-8) in the first round at 9 a.m. CT tomorrow, April 17, in Memphis, Tennessee. The winner of that match will take on No. 1 Florida Atlantic on Friday, April 18, at 9 a.m.
UTSA capped off a 18-4 regular season with a 4-0 win over UT Arlington on Friday, Apr. 4.

🔼 Leaders of the Pack. Mason Lytle garnered his third American Athletic Conference Player of the Week award in his career on Monday.
Lytle was stellar at the plate this weekend as he batted .463, racking up six hits, including two doubles and one homer. The senior outfielder drove in five runs for UTSA and recorded four runs on the weekend. On Saturday against Wichita State, Lytle was just a triple shy from hitting for the cycle. He is leading the conference in at-bats, runs, and hits.

Senior outfielder Mason Lytle just garnered his third AAC Player of the Week award in his career. The Roadrunners have now won four Player of the Week awards this year: Lytle with two, Drew Detlefsen and Andrew Stucky.
Braylon Owens is the only UTSA pitcher to be named Pitcher of the Week. Conor Myles was named to this week’s Honor Roll, becoming the fourth Roadrunner named to that list, joining Caden Miller, Robert Orloski and Owens.
