The UTSA baseball team defeated FAU 7-6 in walk-off fashion, thanks to James Taussig hitting an RBI single to lead UTSA to victory on Sunday, March 30, at Roadrunner Field.

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. The UTSA baseball team defeated Florida Atlantic 7-6 in walk-off fashion, thanks to James Taussig hitting an RBI single to lead UTSA to victory on Sunday, March 30, at Roadrunner Field.  

This was the Roadrunners’ first walk-off win of the season. Taussig had three hits with three RBIs for his seventh multi-hit game and sixth multi-RBI game of the season. Jordan Ballin had two hits and two RBIs for his fifth multi-hit game and sixth multi-RBI game of the season.

🔼 Kennedy’s Upward Trajectory. In what seemed like a normal day, Sophia Kennedy was attending her anatomy and physiology class as a sophomore at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, when a visit from a guest speaker changed the trajectory of her life.

John Norcott, Head Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Pirates’ athletics programs, introduced Kennedy to the field of sports performance in collegiate athletics. What began the next morning proved to be the start of an impressive career path that has led Kennedy to the role of Director of Sports Performance for Olympic Sports at UTSA.

🔼 Okay, Call It a Comeback. The UTSA men’s tennis team (7-9) celebrated a win in its first match on the home courts at UTSA Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon, battling back from a doubles deficit to claim a 5-2 victory over Abilene Christian (11-8).

🎾 : PLAY-BY-PLAY

🔼 Mo Golf, No Problem. The UTSA women’s golf team travels to Florida for the Coach Mo Classic, which will be co-hosted by Furman and North Florida today and tomorrow, March 31-April 1, in St. Augustine. The field will play 36 holes today and 18 tomorrow, with a 7:30 a.m. CT shotgun start scheduled for both days.

This will mark the first of two consecutive trips to the Sunshine State for the Roadrunners, as they are slated to play in the AAC Championship on April 14-16 at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville.

🔼 She “Liened” In. This weekend’s competitions wrapped up at two sites on Saturday for UTSA track and field at the 97th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin and the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos. The Roadrunners came away with a gold-medal school record-tying performance from Mia Lien and both relays in Austin delivered top 10 finishes.

On March 18, the UTSA football team announced that they had added Ferzell Shepard Jr., wide receiver from Scotlandville Magnet High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to the 2025 recruiting class. Shepard’s addition increased the total number in the class to 30, as nine were announced last December during the early signing period and 20 more were added in February.
