The UTSA MBB team has garnered its first all-conference selection since joining the AAC, as Primo Spears has been named to the All-AAC Second Team.

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. The UTSA men’s basketball team has garnered its first all-conference selection since joining the American Athletic Conference, as league officials announced that Primo Spears has been named to the All-AAC Second Team.
The senior guard led the Roadrunners in scoring and was among the premier scorers in both The American and the NCAA throughout the season. Currently ranked 23rd in the nation and second in the conference at 19.8 points per game, Spears spent 14 weeks in the national top 10 and reached as high as the No. 3 scorer in the nation.

🔼 Abonce On Par With Success As Per Usual. Daniela Abonce posted a 1-over-par scorecard to lead UTSA on the second day of the Clover Cup Tuesday at Wigwam Resort’s Blue Course (par 70/5,860 yards).
Abonce turned in a three-shot improvement from her opening round with a 71 on Tuesday to move into the top 20 individuals and help the Roadrunners remain in the top seven in the team standings. Morgan Ellison is two shots behind Abonce in a tie for 27th at 7-over 147.

🔼 Owl Be Darned. The UTSA No. 1 Seed women's basketball team suffered a 62-58 defeat at the hands of the No. 9 Seed Rice on Monday in the AAC quarterfinals at Dickies Arena.
The Roadrunners (26-4, 17-1 The American) now await their postseason fate, with the NCAA Selection Show set for Sunday, March 16 on ESPN at 7 p.m. CT.
Redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins paced the squad in scoring with 20 and also collected six rebounds and two steals.

🔼 The Hits Keep On Coming. Junior outfielder Drew Detlefsen was awarded AAC Player of the Week. For the second week in a row, a UTSA student-athlete was named player of the week by the conference office, as Mason Lytle snagged the award on March 3.
Detlefsen batted .500 on the week recording eight hits including one double, one home run and eight RBI. In the 7-4 victory over Texas Southern on Sunday, he was the one who drove in the go-ahead run on his single in the eighth.

🔼 Z Best. Paced by a 3-under-par scorecard from Logan Zurn, UTSA moved up the leaderboard on the final day of The Hayt on Monday at Sawgrass Country Club (par 72/7,092 yards).
Zurn’s 69 — which matched his season-best round — helped the ‘Runners post a 3-over 291 in the final round to move past Liberty into 13th place in the team standings. UTSA finished with an 887 (307-289-291) for the 54-hole event, edging the Flames by one shot and besting Navy by 31 strokes. UTSA ended up only one shot behind No. 37 Charlotte and just five shy of 10th-place in the field that included 10 nationally ranked teams.
