🔼 A Chilly Victory - A Chictory? 🥶 The UTSA softball team braved the frozen tundra and secured a 7-4 victory over Michigan State on Thursday as a part of the Roadrunner Classic. Additionally, the dub was the ‘Runners first over a power program since topping Kansas, 5-3, on Feb. 26, 2021, and the first against a Big 10 foe since beating Illinois, 11-10, on Feb. 11, 2011.

Freshman Kaylie Olivarez (1-1) picked up her first collegiate win, and junior Katia Reyes (2) secured a save. Freshman Skylar Rucker led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and three runs scored, while senior Jaylen Prichard joined her in logging multiple hits and driving in a run.

🔼 Conference Action On the Court. The Women’s Tennis News Train keeps on rollin’. The Roadrunners are set to take on South Florida and Tulane in their first AAC matches of the season today and tomorrow in Tampa, Fla.

Since 2007, the Roadrunners are 2-0 over Tulane, with the last win being in 2024, where the Roadrunners beat Tulane 4-2 in Dallas, Texas, at the American Athletic Conference Championships. UTSA and South Florida have never played each other.

🔼 Mother Nature Will Make the Call. The UTSA men’s tennis team (3-3) is set to knock out the second and third matches of the current homestand with Florida Atlantic (1-6) this morning at 11:00 AM CST, and Wichita State (3-5) on Sunday at 11:00 AM. Recent weather shifts will also be on the radar, quite literally, as potential inclement weather has already affected the FAU match and could produce further schedule changes. Though both teams are fellow American Athletic Conference members, both matches will be non-conference contests.

🔼 Welcome to the Alamo City. The Roadrunners will face Long Island University in the first home series of the 2025 season, starting at 2:00 PM CST today. The squad plays the second game of the series at noon tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 22). The Roadrunners will finish up the four-game series with a doubleheader starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, the second game starting 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

There's still time to purchase your season tickets and join us at Roadrunner Field!

🤙 ONE BIG THING

Once a ‘Runner. Here’s a bit about Carlie! 👇🏼

Carlie Heineman took over as the UTSA account manager for Anthony Travel in August 2022, where she handles all athletic department travel arrangements. A San Antonio native, Heineman played basketball for the Roadrunners from 2014-18, where she made her mark in the Roadrunners’ record book with the third-most three-pointers in both a career (192) and a season (69, two times) for UTSA.
