🔼 A Hard-Earned Dub is the Best Dub. The UTSA women's basketball team outlasted Rice on Saturday, using a hot start and stout defense down the stretch to collect a 57-55 win in AAC action at Tudor Fieldhouse. With the victory, the ‘Runners are tied with the 2007-08 team for the second-most wins in program history.

Redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins led the squad in scoring to the tune of 19 points with four rebounds, while junior Cheyenne Rowe posted 10 points off the bench.

🔼 Now That’s Good Work. Two members of the UTSA track & field team—Oreoluwa Adamson and Christiaan Le Roux—are among 193 student-athlete nominees nationally for the inaugural Allstate and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Winter Good Works Team, recognizing excellence in academics, sports and community impact.

Adamson claimed the 2023 Conference USA Indoor Championships in the long jump and also was the 2023 Conference USA Outdoor Champion in the triple jump. Le Roux was the 2024 silver medalist in the long jump at the AAC Indoor Championships, finishing fourth in that event at the AAC Outdoor Championships.

🔼 Where There’s a Wick, There’s a Way. With their backs against the wall in the bottom of the seventh, the UTSA softball team found a way, loading up the bases before a two-out single by freshman Sabrina Wick drove in a pair for a 3-2 victory over St. Thomas on Saturday at Roadrunner Field.

The Roadrunners (9-3) bested the Tommies (5-6) as a part of the Roadrunner Classic, with newcomer Kaylie Olivarez (3-1) securing the win.

The team had a Sunday setback, losing 5-0 to Sam Houston in the Roadrunner Classic finale at Roadrunner Field.

🔼 Ross Resilience. As a child, Taylor Ross recalls watching her older brother suit up collegiately for Auburn and then Missouri.

“I still remember when I was like 7 or 8 years old, seeing him on the screen and in front of those big crowds. I wanted to be part of that, I wanted to do that,” Ross said of Earnest, Jr., who now plays for the Guam National Team.

A freshman forward on the UTSA women’s basketball team, Ross saw limited playing time early in the season, but she has willed her way into the regular rotation on the court with her tenacity and hard work. Over the last two games/AAC wins, Ross averaged 14 minutes per game with 5.5 rebounds per game and 2.5 blocks per game.

🔼 Houston, We Have No Problem. The UTSA women’s golf team returns to action today and tomorrow, Feb. 24-25, at the Chevron Collegiate, which will be hosted by Houston. The field will play 36 holes today and 18 tomorrow in this 54-hole, stroke-play event.

The Roadrunners are coming off a tie for 15th place at the Puerto Rico Classic. Morgan Ellison led the way with a 46th-place showing after carding a 74-76-72—222.

🔼 Hardwood Heartache in OT Thriller. A blow-for-blow slugfest unfolded at Williams Arena to close out the week, as the visiting UTSA men’s basketball team (10-17, 4-11 AAC) battled the East Carolina Pirates (16-12, 8-7 AAC) at every turn of Sunday afternoon’s rematch. The game extended to overtime as the Roadrunners and Pirates split the time in front and recorded 15 ties and 20 lead changes before ECU got just enough leverage to pull away for the 96-89 win.

🔼 Palm Trees ‘N’ Double Bogeys. Coming off the top team finish of the season, UTSA is in California for the Desert Intercollegiate, which will be hosted by Wyoming on today through Wednesday, Feb. 24-26, in Palm Desert. The field will play 18 holes each day, beginning with an 11 a.m. CT shotgun start this morning.

The Roadrunners last competed on Feb. 2-4 at the Vaqueros Intercollegiate in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Paced by a 10th-place finish from David Martinez, UTSA placed fifth with an 887 (296-298-293) in the 15-team field.
