🔼 Let’s Play Ball. UTSA Baseball will open its sixth season under head coach Pat Hallmark this weekend, facing off against UT Arlington in a three-game series from Friday-Sunday, Feb. 14-16, in Arlington, Texas. The first game will start at 4 p.m. Friday, with the second game going at 1 p.m. Saturday and the finale at 1 p.m. Sunday.
After finishing 17-10 to finish second in the AAC in 2024, their first year in the league, the Roadrunners were picked to finish fourth by the league’s coaches in 2025. Senior outfielder Mason Lytle has also racked up an impressive list of awards entering his senior campaign, as he was named 2024 AAC Newcomer of the Year while also being named to the AAC All-Academic Team.

🔼 Basketball, a Love Story. When junior UTSA guard Sidney Love soared to block a shot as time expired in a 54-52 win against North Texas last Tuesday, giving the Roadrunners sole possession of first place in the AAC, it was hard not to think about what a journey it has been.
“I’ve come a long way,” Love said. “I used to be a horrible defender.”
When Karen Aston was hired as UTSA’s head coach on March 29, 2021, the ‘Runners had won just two games the season prior. She had to bank on her stellar reputation as a highly successful head coach at Charlotte, North Texas and Texas in order to recruit.
One of the players she immediately set her sights on was Love, a well-known player in the Greater San Antonio area who came from a family of accomplished athletes.

🔼 Thrown to the Lions. After going 5-0 to kick-start the 2025 campaign—the squad’s best start in program history—the UTSA softball team will now focus on the Lion Classic, a three-day tournament beginning today in Hammond, Louisiana. Southeastern Louisiana hosts, and the ‘Runners will also face South Dakota and Mississippi Valley State.
UTSA will first face South Dakota today at 1 p.m. CT before taking on the hosts at 3:30 p.m. On Saturday, they’ll again meet South Dakota at 11 a.m. ahead of a 1 p.m. bout with Mississippi Valley State. The competition will conclude on Sunday with a noon showdown against Southeastern Louisiana.

🔼 Right At Home. The UTSA men’s tennis team (3-2) returns home for a solo match, hosting Texas Tech (4-3) at the UTSA Tennis Center at 1 p.m. today to kick off a three-match homestand for the Roadrunners.
Since opening at 14th-ranked Texas A&M, the Roadrunners have won three of their last four outings in the first season under head coach Sasha Gozun. Defeating UT Rio Grande Valley and UT Arlington, UTSA made it three straight with a neutral-site win in Eugene, Oregon, over a solid Denver squad. However, UTSA couldn’t keep the streak alive, falling to host Oregon last Sunday.
