🔼 (Steam)Rolling Into the Holidays Like… The UTSA men’s basketball team (6-5) moved ahead in the Dub column on Thursday afternoon at the Convo, completely steamrolling Southwestern Adventist in the final home non-conference contest of the season, 117-58. Damari Monsanto had a breakout game beyond the arc to lead seven Roadrunners scoring in double-figures.

The holidays are here, and the Roadrunners have just one more non-conference game on the slate. UTSA will convene in New York to face Army in West Point on Dec. 29 on the return game from last December’s contest at the Convo. UTSA will open American Athletic Conference play in the New Year with a trip to Tulane on Jan. 4.

🔼 Leading With Love. On Thursday, the UTSA women's basketball team cruised past UT Arlington, 76-61, to wrap up nonconference play undefeated in the Convocation Center for the first time since the 1992-93 season. The Roadrunners (8-2, 0-0 The American) bested the Lady Mavericks (4-6, 0-0 WAC) and, in doing so, won eight of their first 10 for the first time since the 1997-98 campaign. Junior Sidney Love paced the contest and tied her season-high in points with 21.

UTSA will now face Texas State tomorrow, with a noon tipoff at Strahan Arena in what represents the Roadrunner's final nonconference contest.

🔼 The Time of Traylor. UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor has been named one of five inductees to the 2025 Texas High School Coaches Associations (THSCA) Hall of Honor Class. The five inductees will be honored at the THSCA Hall of Honor Banquet on July 19 during the annual THSCA Coaching School and Convention in San Antonio.

A longtime Texas high school coach who guided Gilmer to three state championships, this marks the second hall of fame that Traylor will join in 2025, as he was recently announced as an inductee into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame with that ceremony scheduled for May.

Your Wendy’s Woman of the Month is UTSA WBB guard Nina De Leon Negron.

De Leon Negron, a graduate transfer from UIW and the first Puerto Rican-born UTSA women’s basketball player, has been the engine that’s driving the Roadrunners’ historic 7-1 start to the 2024-25 season, the second-best record over the first eight games in program annals. The 5-foot-6 point guard ranks in the top-25 nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (+2.92) and is providing significant leadership to one of the most talented teams in UTSA history.
