šŸ“ˆ STOCK UP

šŸ”¼ A Squeaky Clean Sweep. Leading five Roadrunners in double-figures, Taiā€™Reon Joseph exploded on the North Dakota Fighting Hawks (4-8), scoring 21 of his 28 points in the second half to surge UTSA menā€™s basketball (5-5) to complete the weekendā€™s sweep of UND. Holding off multiple second-half surges, the Roadrunners strung together a team effort to defeat the Fighting Hawks 95-85 on Sunday for UTSAā€™s fourth win in the last six games.

The Roadrunners get one more chance at home in the Convocation Center before the New Year, hosting Southwestern Adventist this Thursday, Dec. 19 at the Convo at 12 PM CST. UTSA is hosting Hoops for the Holidays and the annual Teddy Bear Toss. The MBB game is the front end of a double-header with the womenā€™s team taking on UT Arlington at 4 PM.

šŸ”¼ Stay Hot. The UTSA women's basketball program is set to match up with a Stanford squad that's receiving votes nationally on Monday, with a 2:00 PM CST tipoff at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California. The game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

The ā€˜Runners are hot off a 79-36 victory over Sam Houston that cemented a 7-1 record and the second-best start in school history. The win also represented the 'Runners first seven-game winning streak since 2013-14 and was the largest margin of victory against an NCAA Division I opponent since an 86-33 thrashing of Nicholls in 2008.

šŸ”¼ Relentless. To capture the essence of Nina De Leon Negron, one need only reference the single, meaningful word tattooed in script on her right armā€”relentless. She added the ink after committing to the UTSA womenā€™s basketball program as a graduate transfer.

ā€œItā€™s to remind me that you can do anything you set your mind to,ā€ she said.

A graduate transfer from UIW and the first Puerto Rican-born UTSA womenā€™s basketball player, De Leon Negron is now the engine thatā€™s driving the Roadrunnersā€™ historic 7-1 start to the 2024-25 season, the second-best record over the first eight games in program annals.

Read the feature on De Leon Negron for more on what Coach Aston and her teammates say about her, her parentsā€™ background in collegiate sports and the strong bond she has with teammate Sidney Love that translates on the court.
