Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. The UTSA MBB team (1-0) pulled away in a season-opening matchup with the visiting Trinity Tigers on Monday night. Although Trinity used its zone to stick around, keeping the tension up with a single-possession margin deep into the second half, the switch flipped, and the Roadrunners assumed full control. A flurry of late scoring allowed UTSA to run away with the 103-77 debut victory for first-year head coach Austin Claunch’s refitted UTSA squad.

The ‘Runners make it a two-game week at the Convo, welcoming the North Dakota Fighting Hawks for a first-ever matchup on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 6 PM CST. The UTSA WBB team will be the front end of a twin bill, tipping off against UT Rio Grande Valley at 2 PM.

🔼 French Speaks Football. UTSA senior Martavius French has been chosen as the AAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the 44-36 victory over No. 25 Memphis this past Saturday at the Alamodome, the league office announced Monday.

French racked up ten tackles to help the Roadrunners register their first-ever win against a ranked team, extending the home winning streak to eight games in the process. The inside linebacker tallied five solo stops and a pair of tackles for loss to help UTSA hold the Tigers’ potent rushing attack to only 62 yards.
