Brew-1-0 11/29: Holiday Hoops = Best Hoops

Both the men's and women's Roadrunners basketball teams have enjoyed dubs over the holiday break.

๐Ÿค™๐Ÿผ The Official Newsletter For UTSA Athletics, brought to you by Sport & Story

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. We hope your Thanksgiving was everything youโ€™d hoped for, your cranberry was canned (IYKYK), and your leftovers are plentiful. And with two recent wins by the MBB and WBB teams (more on that below), itโ€™s good to be a Roadrunner.

Weโ€™re enjoying time with our friends and families, so we hope you enjoy this mini-Brewโ€”just a jolt of caffeine in the form of UTSA Athletics news. Your venti-sized Brew will be back on Monday.

What other ingredients do we have for the Brew today? Check it out below!

๐Ÿ”ผ The One-Two Punch. Wednesdayโ€™s Trojan Turkey Tipoff contest was a game of many phases for the UTSA menโ€™s basketball team (2-3). The Roadrunners led by as many as 16 points and rallied from a 14-point deficit to win in the closing seconds of the 76-74 victory over Merrimack (1-6) at Trojan Arena.

Forward Jonnivius Smith held things down early for the Roadrunners, registering a historic double-double outing. However, with their backs against the wall, the Roadrunners got a burst from senior guard Primo Spears, who scored 15 of the final 20 points to lead UTSA to the comeback win.

Following the Thanksgiving holiday in San Antonio, the Roadrunners will return to action this weekend at the Convocation Center, hosting Houston Christian in a 3 p.m. Fansgiving and Youth Day matchup tomorrowโ€”Saturday, Nov. 30. Get your tickets now!

The Roadrunners (5-1, 0-0 The American) bested the Spartans (6-2, 0-0 SoCon) with a trio recording double-digit scoring figures. Redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins posted 14 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double, while sophomore Idara Udo was not far behind, charting 10 points and seven boards. Junior Maya Linton scored 11.

UTSA will wrap up the Puerto Rico Clasico today as the WBB team takes on Towson with a 1 p.m. CT tip at the Juan Cruz Abreu Coliseum.
