🔼 Senior Salutin’. Winners of two straight games and bowl eligible for the sixth straight season under head coach Jeff Traylor, UTSA will close out the regular season slate against Army on Saturday, Nov. 29.
Kickoff for Senior Day and the annual Salute to Armed Forces game is set for 2:30 p.m. at the Alamodome.
The Roadrunners ran their record to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in American Conference play with a convincing 58-24 home triumph over East Carolina last Saturday, improving to 25-0 against league opponents at home in the Traylor era. This will be the sixth meeting between in a series led by the Black Knights, 4-1.
🔼 Putting the W in Wednesday. The UTSA women’s basketball team erased a 10-point deficit with under four minutes in the fourth quarter, as the ‘Runners took down Grand Canyon, 65-64, in a thrilling finale at the Hoopfest Women’s Basketball Challenge at the Comerica Center on Wednesday.
Cheyenne Rowe logged a new career-high in scoring with 20 points – 10 of which came in the fourth quarter – and she also snagged seven rebounds. Jayda Holiman and Damara Allen each charted 12 points, with Holiman pulling down eight boards and Allen six.
🔼 Second Helpings. The UTA men’s hoops team enjoyed some second helpings on Tuesday night, using a big second half to pull away and take down Georgia Southern, 77-64, in the finale of the Jacksonville Classic.
Jamir Simpson led all scorers with 22 for his fourth game exceeding 20, while also grabbing seven rebounds, going 10-for-13 at the line. Brent Moss knocked down three triples and shot 7-for-15 for a season-best 19 points on top of eight rebounds. Macaleab Rich also hit double-figures with 11 points on 4-of-5 shooting, grabbing eight boards with two blocks.
