๐Ÿ”ผ Itโ€™s Written in the Stars. The UTSA women's basketball program is back in the Convocation Center tonight as the team hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi for Rising Stars Night at 6:30 PM CST.

The Roadrunners (3-1, 0-0 The American) picked up a pair of road wins a week ago, first besting New Mexico State, 75-61, ahead of a 78-73 win over UTEP. Redshirt junior Jordyn Jenkins was dominant, posting 28.5 PPG at a 70.4% clip and 11.5 RPG en route to American Athletic Conference Player of the Week and Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week honors (more on that below).

๐Ÿ”ผ JJ in Perpetuity. Another day, another Jordyn Jenkins accolade! The U.S. Basketball Writers Association officially released the Ann Meyers Drysdale National Players of the Week on Monday, with redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins representing UTSA womenโ€™s basketball. Additionally, the Renton, Washington native was also named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

At the conference level, Jenkins has now won seven Player of the Week awards (4x CUSA, 1x Pac-12, 2x AAC). She last was chosen by The American on Feb. 9, 2024, after scoring 11 points with seven rebounds against Tulsa and 29 points with four boards against North Texas.

๐Ÿ”ผ Setting Up For Success. The American Athletic Conference released its batch of weekly honors on Monday, with sophomore Kai Bailey earning Defensive Player of the Week and classmate Annika Sokol Setter of the Week. Additionally, junior Mia Soerensen was named to the honorable mention.

This marks the first weekly award in Bailey and Sokol's collegiate tenure and the first time the AAC recognized UTSA since Ally Tribe was chosen as Freshman of the Week on Sept. 16, 2024. The 'Runnersโ€™ last defensive honor was given to Miranda Putnicki in 2023, and UTSA's last setter honoree was Courtney Walters in 2019.

๐Ÿ”ผ Hoozah! UTSA cornerback Zah Frazier has been named the East-West Shrine Bowl "Texas Star of the Week" following his performance in the 48-27 victory over North Texas last Friday night. The East-West Shrine Bowl honors a โ€œTexas Star of the Weekโ€ to an all-star game-eligible player from a Texas university who displayed the most NFL traits that week.

For the season, Frazier has four picks, and his 0.4 interceptions-per-game average leads the league and ranks seventh nationally. He also has eight pass breakups in 2024, putting his 1.3 passes-defended-per-game average at the top of The American and seventh in the FBS.

๐Ÿ”ผ Premature Christmasing - Yay or Nay? On Mini-Mic Monday, UTSA Baseball was asked the most controversial question yet: When is it okay to decorate for Christmas?

๐Ÿ”ผ Something Special. UTSA redshirt sophomore Tate Sandell has been named American Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for his school record-tying showing in the 48-27 victory over North Texas this past Friday night at the Alamodome.

Sandell earned his first career conference weekly honor after matching the program standard by making all four field-goal attempts, managing a perfect four for four on extra-point tries, and recording five touchbacks.

Owen McCown was selected as one of five players for the leagueโ€™s Honorable Mention Player of the Week list for the fifth time this season.
