Brew-1-0 11/15: They Dread the Dome

UTSA Football has the upper hand as they face North Texas tonight, having a 5-1 record at the Alamodome.

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. UTSA will continue a three-game home stand with tonight’s showdown against North Texas, with kickoff set for 7 PM CST. The teams meet for the 13th time, marking the most-played series in program history. The ‘Runners have won the last three meetings, and the team is 7-5 all-time against the Mean Green, including 5-1 in the Alamodome.

The Roadrunners (4-5, 2-3 AAC) are coming off their second idle week of the season. They last played on Nov. 2, when they won 44-36 at home over then-25th-ranked Memphis. The Mean Green fell to 5-4 overall with a 14-3 setback to nationally-ranked Army last Saturday.

🔼 J-Squared, Double-Squared. A redshirt senior Jordyn Jenkins double-double propelled the UTSA women’s basketball team past New Mexico State, 75-61, in nonconference action inside the Pan American Center.

The Roadrunners (2-1, 0-0 The American) bested the Aggies (2-1, 0-0 CUSA) as Jenkins tallied 27 points and 11 rebounds on 9-for-14 shooting and an 8-for-8 ledger at the free-throw line. Along with Jenkins, sophomore Idara Udo charted 11 points and four rebounds, while graduate student Nina De Leon Negron posted 14 points with a career-high four three-pointers.

🔼 Wrapping it Up on the Road. The UTSA volleyball team is headed for Tulsa, where a 6 PM CST matchup awaits inside the Reynolds Center on Friday, ahead of a Sunday contest with Wichita State in Charles Koch Arena at 1 p.m. that will wrap up the season.

The Roadrunners (9-18, 3-11 The American) split last week, first falling to Memphis, 25-18, 20-25, 25-23, 25-20, before besting Florida Atlantic, 25-19, 25-21, 25-19.

🔼 All On the Line. The UTSA Men’s and women’s cross country teams head to College Station, Texas, today for the NCAA South Central Region Championships. The meet will open with the women’s 6K race at 9 AM CST, followed by the men’s 10K race at 10 AM. Results will be posted online on Flash Results.

Hosted by Texas A&M, the Roadrunners will run against 33 other teams, including Arkansas, Baylor, Houston, LSU, North Texas, Rice, TCU, Texas, and Tulane. The first four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier team or an at-large team will automatically advance to the NCAA Cross Country Championships, held Nov. 23 in Madison, Wisconsin.
