Good Morning, UTSA Fam.

A Thursday night thriller! Trailing by one with 1:56 on the clock, UTSA ripped off a 74-yard drive in 10 plays, and A’Marion Peterson bulled his way in from a yard out with 15 ticks left as the Roadrunners sealed a 31-24 comeback win over South Florida. Peterson was unstoppable all night, racking up 92 yards and three touchdowns on just 12 carries, including a 53-yard burst in the first quarter. The Roadrunners pounded out 277 rushing yards at a bruising 6.4 per carry, with Will Henderson III chipping in 86. Owen McCown was steady and clean at 22-for-31 with zero turnovers, and Michael Petro drilled all three of his field goals, the longest from 41.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 First League Win. UTSA soccer broke through for its first American Conference victory with a 3-0 shutout at South Florida, scoring three or more goals for the third time this season and the first time on the road. Addi O’Kelley struck in the second minute off a Kacey Grahmann cross and an Ava Jackson touch, burying one from 22 yards out, then Sadie Paul headed home a Leah Varela corner in the 64th. Sabrina Taber added her first goal as a Roadrunner in the 80th, muscling the ball free before finishing into the bottom corner. Jasmine Kessler made four saves for her second shutout of the year. UTSA hosts UAB on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Bark in the Park West, presented by Raising Cane’s.

🔼 Giants of Gilmer. Will Henderson III and Jeff Traylor both built their names in Gilmer, Texas, a town of about 4,800; Henderson as the star of the Buckeyes’ 2023 Class 4A-Division II state championship team, Traylor as the coach who went 175-26 and won three state titles over 15 years there. The two never crossed paths on a sideline until 2024, when Henderson chose San Antonio and found the same culture he’d grown up in. His teammates voted him into the No. 1 jersey on offense this season, one of the three numbers reserved for the players who best embody the 210 Triangle of Toughness. In 2025, he set a school record by averaging 6.9 yards per carry, and in high school he piled up 2,736 yards and 35 touchdowns as a senior while winning back-to-back state track titles.

🔼 Two Of The Top Three. UTSA volleyball opens its third week of American Conference play today at Tulsa before facing South Florida on Sunday at 1 p.m., drawing two of the league’s top three teams from the preseason poll. The Roadrunners are coming off their first conference win of the season, a four-set takedown of Charlotte powered by Isabella Arroyave’s 16 kills and eight digs plus nine team blocks. Tulsa enters at 12-3 and is one of three programs still unbeaten in American play, while South Florida is 3-1 in league action after sweeping both Rice and Temple last weekend. A pair of wins would put UTSA back at .500 in conference play.

🔼 Top-Five Finish. Bryce Womack shot 9-under 207 to land in a three-way tie for fifth among an 88-man field at the West Bay Collegiate Invitational, closing with a 3-under 69 that included four birdies and finishing four shots off individual champion Uy Doan of Stetson. The senior transfer racked up a team-high 14 birdies for the week and notched his third sub-70 round in six tries this season. Cole Pregler tied for 27th at 3-under 213 in his UTSA debut, opening with a 5-under 67 and rattling off three straight birdies in the final round, while Francisco Solorza took a share of 32nd at 2-under 214 with an eagle on the par-5 second. Gabriel Derbez posted the lineup's low final round at 3-under 69 with seven birdies, the best round of his young career. UTSA closes the fall Oct. 19-20 at the Qubein Cup in North Carolina.

🔼 Back At The Bird Bath. UTSA Baseball opens its fall slate today, hosting Temple JC at 2 p.m. in the first of four weekends at Roadrunner Field. The schedule brings four opponents to the Bird Bath plus the three-game Fall World Series Oct. 23-25, wrapping with Navarro College on Nov. 6. Admission is free to every event this fall, including the Fall World Series, and 2027 season ticket deposits are now available as the Roadrunners chase a third straight American Conference title.

🔼 Promoted To The 53. Former Roadrunner Robert Henry Jr. landed on Seattle's active roster this week, signed off the Washington Commanders' practice squad to add depth behind a banged-up backfield. The undrafted rookie rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries across three preseason games with Washington. At UTSA, Henry was a first-team All-American Conference pick in 2025, piling up 1,045 yards and nine touchdowns while ranking third in FBS at 6.9 yards per carry, and he left with a school-record 5.7 career average.

🔼 Beyond the Jersey. Sit down with UTSA’s Victor Rocha as part of the American Conference’s Powerful Minds Week series as student-athletes talk about their highlights, heroes, hardships, and history.
