UTSA heads to New Orleans tomorrow night at 7 p.m. on ESPNU to face Tulane, the Roadrunners’ first trip outside the state all season. At 6-1 and alone atop the American Conference at 3-0, UTSA rides a four-game winning streak and its best seven-game start since the 2021 squad opened 7-0, with Owen McCown engineering game-winning fourth-quarter drives in each of the past two outings. The Roadrunners lead the all-time series 2-1.

Your Wendy’s Woman of the Month is Ledisi Kpea. The middle blocker made program history in October, becoming the first Roadrunner in UTSA’s 44 years to record 14 blocks in a single match, and she piled up 21 total blocks across the week to earn American Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the school’s first of the season. She’s now second in the league at 1.25 blocks per set.

🔼 Leading On & Off. Camron Cooper has been named one of 20 semifinalists nationally for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award, which honors leadership, courage, and integrity on and off the field. The outside linebacker was voted by teammates to wear UTSA’s No. 1 jersey as a representative of the 210 Triangle of Toughness culture and has started all seven games after a season-ending injury in the 2025 opener. Away from the field he mentors through UTSA’s Rowdy Readers program, visits patients at Christus Children’s Hospital, and supports the San Antonio Food Bank, and three finalists will be announced Dec. 15 ahead of the March 11 ceremony.

🔼 Splitting The Squad. UTSA men’s tennis is in two places this weekend, with Enzo Vargas and Timeo Bretin at the American Individual Championships in Houston through Saturday and Dmitri Goubin, Maximilian Ontiveros, Gabriel Jalouneix, and Joel Hansson at the Waco Invite through Sunday. Bretin and Vargas bring momentum after finishing one-two at the UTSA UTR Sports College Circuit, with Vargas falling only to his teammate in the semifinals.

🔼 Freshmen Lead the Way. A pair of freshmen in Cole Pregler and Gabriel Derbez each tied for third to push UTSA men’s golf to a runner-up finish at the Qubein Cup. Pregler closed with an even-par 70 and played the par fives at 5-under for the week, while Derbez followed an opening 74 with rounds of 68 and 69 and racked up a team-high 11 birdies, second-most in the field. Both posted the best collegiate finishes of their young careers, and the Roadrunners are off until Feb. 7-9 at the Compadres Collegiate in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
