Good Morning, Roadrunners Fam. UTSA volleyball hosts Wichita State on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. and East Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. at the Convocation Center. Both matches will stream on ESPN+. This weekend marks Games 2 and 3 of UTSA’s three-match American Conference home stand.

🔼 Road Battle. Fresh off a record-setting 61-13 win over Rice, UTSA will travel to Denton, Texas, to face North Texas on Saturday, Oct. 18. Kickoff for the 14th meeting between the two teams is set for 2:30 p.m. at DATCU Stadium. The Roadrunners have won the last four meetings and own an 8-5 advantage in the series with UNT. UTSA set or tied program records for points (61), defensive scores (3) and tackles for loss (17) in the Homecoming triumph over Rice last Saturday night to improve to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in the American Conference. The Mean Green dropped a 63-36 home decision to South Florida last Friday night to fall to 5-1 and 1-1.

🔼 Midseason Standout. Senior running back Robert Henry Jr. was named to The Athletic’s Midseason All-America Team, earning one of two second-team spots at running back. Through six games, he’s racked up 730 rushing yards and eight scores on 92 carries, added 105 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns, and leads the American Conference across multiple statistical categories. He’s also broken five scrimmage plays of 70+ yards — more than any other FBS player so far.

🔼 For San Antonio. UTSA volleyball is proudly representing the 2-1-0 with a roster focused on keeping local standouts playing for the Roadrunners. Head coach Carol Price-Torok says that connection gives the Roadrunners a special edge, as players like Giada Obregon, from Floresville, Texas, choose to stay close to home. Obregon is having a major impact on the court for UTSA this season, leading the team in digs per set.

“G is fun, she’s exciting and she represents who we want to be here in San Antonio,” Torok said. “Having a hometown kid on this stage, doing what she’s doing, is pretty special.”

🔼 First Gen. Meet Maya Linton, a senior on the UTSA women’s basketball squad this season! She’s a first-generation college student from Duncanville, Texas, and she sat down to talk about her journey to UTSA as part of the Roadrunners’ ongoing effort to spotlight first-generation student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and staff in the UTSA Athletics Department.
