🔼 From Way Out There. UTSA soccer got its second straight American Conference win with a pair of goals you don’t see every day, beating league-leading UAB 2-1 at Park West. Sofia Peters opened it in the 28th, settling a Sadie Paul throw-in near the right sideline just in front of midfield and launching it in. Fourteen minutes later Isabel Peters sent a long ball from behind the halfway line that Caroline Pelkofski ran onto in the box, chipping it over the keeper’s head and in on one bounce for her first career goal. Jasmine Kessler matched her season high with six saves to hold off a Blazers side that outshot the Roadrunners 14-8. Tulsa comes to town Thursday at 7 p.m. for Hispanic Heritage Day and International Day, presented by Dos Equis.

🔼 Won It In Five. UTSA volleyball dropped the first and third sets but kept answering, taking down South Florida 3-2 in front of 925 at the Convo. The fifth was the Roadrunners’ best hitting of the night at .316, closing it out 15-12 after taking the fourth 25-18. Ally Tribe and Ledisi Kpea led with nine kills apiece, Alyssa Manitzas scooped up 18 digs, and Caroline Tredwell was a wall at the net with six blocks. Giada Obregon served three of UTSA’s six aces.

🔼 First Team Honors. The coaches put UTSA second in the American preseason poll, behind Rice and ahead of everyone else, and the Roadrunners get there as the reigning conference tournament champs, fresh off the program’s first NCAA Tournament trip since 2009. Two first-place votes landed in San Antonio for 125 total points. Idara Udo earned Preseason All-Conference First Team honors for the second straight year after averaging a double-double through last year’s title run and putting up 9.3 points and 7.4 rebounds across the season.

🔼 One Last Swing. UTSA women’s golf closes the fall today through Wednesday at the Golf Iconic Classic in Las Cruces, the program’s first-ever trip to New Mexico and second straight into the Mountain time zone. The Roadrunners bring Victoria Schuldt, Yiwei Zhao, Lauren Rios, Lydia Lin, and Miah Wanserski into a field of 19 teams playing 18 holes a day. Lin leads the squad with a 71.4 scoring average and four par-or-better rounds, while Schuldt is coming off a team-best tie for 15th at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate and shared her first collegiate title earlier this fall.
