🔼 Must Be in the Front “Rowe”. When the second season of one of young Cheyenne Rowe’s favorite anime wasn’t available in English, she came up with a simple solution. She would learn Japanese on her own.

There may be no better story that captures the essence of Rowe, UTSA’s 6-foot-2 forward from Ajax, Ontario. A cerebral hard-worker with a perfectionistic streak who embraces the opportunity to do whatever is asked of her on the court, in the classroom and for her teammates.

“I may not score the most points, but I will get on the floor, I will get a rebound and I’ll play defense.”

Rowe, who joined the Roadrunners last season as a transfer from James Madison, has been an important contributor for UTSA during this historic season.

🔼 U-N-D-E-F-E-A-T-E-D. The Roadrunners won their second home match and sixth match of the season against St. Mary’s (TX) on Sunday, Jan. 26 at the UTSA Tennis Center. UTSA remains undefeated against St. Mary’s (TX) since 2007 with three wins.

UTSA will play host to Abilene Christian on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.

🔼 Elevating Black Voices. Rooted in Black History and Elevated by Black Voices, UTSA Athletics will celebrate Black History Month throughout February with a social media video series and recognition at men’s and women’s basketball home games. This celebration will honor the achievements and contributions of Black athletes, coaches and staff, highlighting their roles in shaping UTSA and the United States.

🔼 The “It” Squad. Attending a UTSA women’s basketball game may just be the coolest thing to do in San Antonio right now.

Following Wednesday’s 64-53 win against Tulsa that gave the Roadrunners their 10th consecutive victory and improved their record to 17-2 overall and 8-0 in the American Athletic Conference, the team and staff joined sorority members - who were in attendance for Greek Night - in a celebratory line dance at half court.

San Antonio sports legend Becky Hammon, a six-time WNBA All-Star, former longtime San Antonio Spurs assistant coach and current head coach of the two-time WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces, was sitting courtside in the Convo a few weeks ago.

🔼 Getting the Jump on the Competition. Led by Christian Le Roux and Rachela Pace, the Roadrunner track and field teams picked up five medals, four in the jumps and one relay in closing out competition at the Ted Nelson Invitational on Saturday.

Le Roux earned the gold in the men’s long jump, marking the second consecutive meet for the South African senior to claim the top spot in the event. A Fresno State transfer, Pace claimed the gold in the women’s triple jump with a 12.95m (42-6) mark to close out the field events for the day.

🔼 Victory Over Vaqueros. The UTSA men’s tennis team (1-1) battled through a tough doubles point and then came out swinging in singles to claim a decisive 4-0 victory over visiting UT Rio Grande Valley (0-3) on Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center, earning the first win of the Sasha Gozun era.
