🔼 Making HERstory. The most successful teams in sports history share one important trait: They are all led primarily by their players rather than their coaches. The motivation comes from within.

The UTSA WBB team took another step forward in its impressive 2024-25 season on Saturday with a 69-51 win against Wichita State in the Convo. The ‘Runners improved to 14-2 overall and 5-0 in the AAC, extending their home winning streak to 10 games— the second-longest home win streak in program history.

“The good thing about this group is they’re pretty good about self-checking in timeouts. It’s not like we have to say a lot. I think our team understands when we need to reset and when we need to refocus.” - Karen Aston, UTSA head coach

🔼 Road Warriors. The UTSA men’s basketball team (8-8, 2-2 AAC) proved resilient in battling through a nail-biter, rolling to their second consecutive American Athletic Conference victory. The squad held off a second-half rally from homestanding Rice (11-7, 2-3) on the triple-team efforts of Primo Spears, Marcus Millender and Raekwon Horton’s combined 71 points. The Roadrunners pulled ahead big early but fought off the Owls down the stretch for their first road conference win of the season via a 90-84 victory on Tuesday night.

🔼 In Pursuit of More HERstory. The UTSA women's basketball team is set to continue American Athletic Conference play tonight at 7:00 PM CST as they visit Memphis at Elma Roane Fieldhouse.

The Roadrunners (14-2, 5-0 The American) head into the contest having logged their best-ever start to a conference campaign, with a 5-0 record tying the 1983-84 squad.

Bartlett makes her way to San Antonio following a season as an assistant coach at Louisiana Tech, where she specialized in recruiting and directed team operations.

Prior to her time in Ruston, she played for Louisville, propelling them to their most successful four-year run in program history. She served as team captain in 2023, and in her time, the Cardinals went 105-12, including three ACC Championships, two NCAA Final Fours and a runner-up finish in 2022.

🔼 Never Too Late. For Brenda Davila, returning to college as an adult was a decision that took years to materialize. Motivated by a desire to fulfill a personal dream and inspire her children, she decided to make a bold move. Since she works part time for UTSA Athletics, Davila needed a degree program that offered flexibility and robust student support. She found the perfect match with the UTSA Online Multidisciplinary Studies program.

The 100% online program structure, combined with resources such as academic advising and tutoring, provided the foundation Davila needed to succeed.

Read the feature on Davila for more on her role within the UTSA Athletics department, the challenges she’s faced while balancing her busy schedule and her post-graduation plans.
