Five members of the UTSA football team have been selected for the Shrine Bowl 1000

Good morning, Roadrunners Fam. Five members of the UTSA football program have been selected for the Shrine Bowl 1000, as the East-West Shrine Bowl unveiled its watch list this week.

Tight end Oscar Cardenas, wide receiver De’Corian “JT” Clark, defensive lineman Joe Evans, inside linebacker Jamal Ligon, and outside linebacker Jimmori Robinson all made the list.

The aim is for this Shrine Bowl 1000 to serve as a look into the scouting process and begin to preview college players who are currently all-star game eligible for the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl and 2025 NFL Draft class.

🔼 You’re a Gentleman and a Scholar. UTSA’s Hunter Bott and David Harrison have been named 2023-24 NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced.

Bott achieved All-America Scholar status for the fourth time in his career, while Harrison collected his third consecutive honor from the organization.

These two accolades come one month after both student-athletes landed on the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Academic All-District Men’s At-Large Team for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.

🔼 A Peek Behind the Curtain. This summer, UTSA Athletics has been profiling its numerous areas to provide an inside look into how each unit serves Roadrunners’ student-athletes. 

In this edition, we sat down with Ashley Poronsky, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development/Strategy, to discuss the Development unit. 

Q: How does your department service UTSA student-athletes? 

Ashley Poronsky: “The Roadrunner Athletic Fund and the development area at UTSA serve student-athletes by working with donors to find what their passions are and match them with the sport or the project that they care most about, and gain resources for those specialized projects.”
